Whilst tidying my loft I came across some 40 year old family recordings but with no cassette player I was stuck. I bought this expecting very little for the low price. When it arrived, my first impressions were that it was a tad plasticky. However, I connected it via the provided USB to my PC (no batteries required), installed the Audacity software (from the free disk) and straight away I was able to play and digitise the recordings to my computer. Whilst this was happening, I could use my headphones to directly connect to the tape player and monitor the sound as it played. To hear recordings of my late mum singing with me was truly special - needless to say I don’t regret this purchase for a second. Great value.

I needed this to transfer 2 old tapes to digital format. It was easy to set on on a Mac (no drivers or installation necessary) and I used it as input to Logic Pro where I applied some EQ and Compression to clean up the rather poor recordings.After that, I bounced the file down to a lossless AAF file, which I uploaded to SoundCloud.Hassle free. Great result.

The media could not be loaded. Great little item. Motor has plenty of power even playing cassettes my Technics and JVC systems wouldn't. Sets itself up when plugged into the USB port. Set the recording device in Audacity to MME and off you go! Don't worry if you don't hear any sound from the speakers as it records, it's still doing it's thing. It also means it isn't intruding on whatever else you're doing. The only audible hiss was from the cassette itself, and using Noise Reduction soon sorts that out. You have to play with the volume a little in a trial run to avoid clipping, but that's no biggie as the volume can be Normalized later. Also, be aware that in Auto Reverse mode it KEEPS reversing, it won't play one side, then the other, then stop. But you can't expect everything for under £25.I'm really pleased with what I got for the money.

For the size of a walkman, this unit is excellent to use for transferring old cassette tapes or vinyl to digital. Using Audacity takes a bit of learning, but once you understand the basics, the transfer is high quality both as .mp3 and .wav files, so the music can be then written to a USB drive or to CD.So simple to use and easy instructions.Just transferred an old 1981 Bill Withers cassette that had seen better days and the quality of the new digital copies is extremely clear even without having to clear any tape hissing.Can recommend for anyone looking for a simple transfer system.
