If you trim the wicks, they do not smoke. I love all the fragrances, but the Spring Dress is a beautiful, refreshing fragrance you will smell everywhere in the house. The beautiful fragrances of these candles are not like the grocery store candles, or so many other brands, that when you light them, you don't smell anything unless you have your face right next to it. When I burn one of these in our basement, I can smell the fragrance all the way upstairs. Just a lovely candle! You won't be disappointed. I will continue to buy them and highly recommend! They also packaged these candles so there was no way they were going to break!
