Salute to the Jugger / The Blood of Heroes (uncut)

This DVD is the only release I could find of the full, uncut version of SotJ / TBoH. For that reason, alone, it is worth buying. Where it is lacking is in video quality and a lack of togglable English subtitles. (However, all of cut version releases I've seen also are missing English subtitles.) The video quality, in terms of brightness and color, is significantly darker and unsaturated when compared to that of the cut Aussie SotJ DVD release, and also compared to the cut Bluray release.All of that said, the extra ~12 minutes of movie content enriches the story greatly. There are extra scenes to the jugger matches that add to the excitement. There are extra scenes which add depth to Dog Boy's situation. The travel between dog towns is portrayed differently, more dark and perilous, but also, a bit more scenic. There are extra scenes which add depth to the connection between Kidda and Sallow. In the final match there's a nice extra scene that supplements Sallow's history with Gonzo. And, there are several aspects about the uncut ending, revealing what happens after the final match, that add depth to the conclusion. So, despite the disparity in video quality, I feel this release is a must-own. At least, until / unless there is a newer uncut version with restored video.
