I wouldn’t use it to place outside. Not unless u r making it to place on a deck where the rain or snow don’t wet it. If u r making macrame placemats, don’t leave them outside after u use them. Since u didn’t specify what you are making, I hope this helps. You can also Google and search for sprays that can be used on outside macrame items. Stay safe.

Is this machine washable?

No, usually you use a mild dish soap to wash this. If you put it in the washing machine it might damage your art.

Is this the cord used to make the bowls?

If your making bowls you may want to use a bigger cord unless your using knots in the cords to make it thicker and to hold the shape better.
