Ghost Squad

A good Halloween Family Movie for all ages. Fairly well done. Some parts Amateurish.
For young actors, they all performed well. The movie is well done for the most part and it is a clean family movie. Nothing that you wouldn't want your kids to see. Pretty good storyline. As a family we enjoyed it and thought it was cute. You have 3 young teen boys who are into Ghosts and into Halloween. Picked on by three older High School Boys. Nothing major. As a dare by the older boys, the three decide to stay in a Haunted House overnight. If they do, they older teens will leave them alone. The older teens have rigged the house to try to win the bet but things don't go as planed by all parties and nothing ends up the way they thought it would be. Ends up being a heartfelt movie. Good for all ages. Yes, some of the acting isn't the greatest but for the most part, it's a pretty good movie.

Great movie
I loved this movie. I am a big ghost/paranormal movie lover and the movies Hollywood spews out now for adults are 99% pure crap. Everyone dies, no happy ending, too gory. UGH!!! So I thought I would watch this kids movie and it turned out to be a gem. I thought it had decent acting and a good plot and I loved the ending. It had a good message too. So yeah, I loved it!!

Worth the time and fun for the whole family
OK, not your Hollywood blockbuster, but worth the time, and fun for the whole family. It's a bully teases the geeky kids to take a dare to stay the night in a haunted house on Halloween movie (NOT a fake ghost for you Scooby Doo fans). And of course one of the kids takes the dare (with a condition) to impress a girl he has a crush on. There are plenty of scary moments which probably make this better for those 8 years old and over. But there are also a few twists and turns you won't see in the typical offerings in the genre and at least one or two things you won't expect. Great for the whole family and comes with a happy ending.

Who's the bully?
This movie does a decent job of portraying three middle school boys who stand up to three high school bullies. They accept a dare to spend Halloween night in an abandoned "haunted" house to prove they are not wimpy weaklings. The younger boys summon courage, perseverance, and loyalty to each other as they face some spooky happenings together. In the process, they gain self-respect and the admiration of the older boys. There is no foul language, no blood or gore, and only very mild teasing and bullying. The boys do lie to their parents about where they will be Halloween night, but there are consequences when they are found out. (Charlie, the main character, gets grounded.). The movie would appeal to middle schoolers who would probably find it a bit scary, but the scare factor is not over the top. All good, except . . .It is amazing to me that, in a film supposedly about overcoming bullying, the writers, producers and director are completely oblivious to the juxtaposition of the bullying that happens in Charlie's family. His father is verbally abusive to his younger brother. He calls him an idiot and tells him to shut up no less than four times in the movie. The father imperiously demands that Charlie take wrestling lessons even though Charlie has no desire or interest. This is portrayed as the normal family dynamic. No decent father would consistently talk to or treat his children that way. This parental bullying is not addressed and remains unresolved at the end of the movie. Talk about tone deaf. I would have rated this kid's movie 4 stars, but took 2 stars away because of this.

Amateurish
The acting was low quality. The father character seemed to always be angry with his sons, even calling Todd and idiot at one point. He kept telling Todd to shut up. Not a good example for parents/kids. The rest of the film was entertaining for kids, but the father's interactions with his sons were just off. He seemed to be verbally abusive, but the expressions didn't match his words. It was OK as an adventure film for kids, but overall, the interactions between the sons and father make it not so entertaining.

Meh
Family friendly, except the dad ridicules the kidsCute movie. It might be enjoyed by kids the age of the actors. There are issues. The acting is very amateurish. I know theyโre kids but Iโve seen kids this age who acted well, ET and Goonies for example. The acting was wooden and dimensionless. The characters were caricatures/stereotypes. Athletic kids are stupid and mean. The smart kids are kind and friendly. Mothers are wise and caring and fathers are losers. The way the dad spoke to the younger kid was a disgrace. These stereotypes were carried to extreme in this movie. Neutral recommendation. I know I wonโt be watching it again.

Ghost rubbish
Oh my god what a load of rubbish, please do not waste your money. Not scary one little bit, the teenage boys typical annoying bullies and the main young actors not that great, and well the ghost dog need work. One minute its trying to eat the boys, next in the morning the dog is visible and friendly. Instead of Ghost Squad should be called No ghost only a red eye invisible nothing.
