GIANT repro of an old favorite -
This is an over sized, board book reproduction, of the 1949 original golden book that we grandparents had when we were young- only this is sturdy so my little sister cannot tear out the pages in this one! Tho likely she has outgrown that habit, it's safe from the grandkids as well. We kept this one for ourselves, and is so big, we used it as part of the decor in our game room, which has an 'oldies' themed tree. It's app 9'' x 11'', seems to be a faithful repro of the original, the binding allows it to lay flat while reading, but possibly the binding may not hold up to abuse. Since it is special to us I wouldn't leave it in with the mass of books the little ones have anyway, but read it to them when they visit, perfect size for that. Am happy to see that the company seems to be bringing out some board book repros of the 'oldies but goodies' that we loved as kids, will be buying more, especially the over sized ones. The one downside for me that this book is made in China, would have gladly paid more for these old classics to be made here.

Adorable!
This board book is simply lovely. The art is bright and engaging and just perfect for drawing in little eyes.

Most beautiful illustrations
The best of both worlds. Reading the “The Night Before Christmas” has always been a beloved tradition for us and I was just delighted to find this beautifully illustrated version by the amazing ME. I have been collecting children’s books illustrated by ME for my grandchildren and this is a gorgeous addition to their library. The detail, imagination and whimsy in her illustrations of this book are breathtaking. This may just be my favorite of our collection.

Very poor printing making what could be lovely illustrations very murky
When I found this book (The Night Before Christmas, illustrated by Gennady Spirin) I was very happy. I am a fan of Gennady Spirin. His illustrations are just wonderful. This book, however, is poorly printed. The illustrations are not sharp and clear, but dull and murky. It is too bad that readers cannot see the illustrations in quality color.

I love this story and was very excited to add it ...
I love this story and was very excited to add it to my daughter's Christmas book collection.Pros: The cover is puffy/squishy which gives it a childlike allure. The pictures are both realistic and cartoonish which allows a certain type of fantasy meets reality type of feel. I thoroughly appreciate the imagery of the book as it is something that will not be outgrown. I should also say this book has a nostalgic feel to me as pictures somewhat remind me of a book I owned when I was little.Cons: The binding feels a little cheap, like if I were to handle it a little too roughly (or just simply over time) the pages would fall loose. The pages themselves feel very thin. I'm very nervous reading the book around my 1 year old as I feel one quick move on her part would shred the page in seconds.Overall a great buy for the money and a great pictorial rendition of a classic Christmas poem.

Wouldn't get it again.
While the overall illustrations are beautiful, the Santa Claus once again in this one is just terrible looking (his face and beard looks like some homeless scraggly person), he is out of proportion and the fur on his suit looks like it has never been taken care of in its life, and the belt and buckle look like an afterthought. The reindeer look nice. The poem also is abridged (something I didn't realize at the time of purchase) as it has been made politically correct with the part of Santa and his pipe having been removed. Why can't someone illustrate this poem/story with an awesome looking well dressed Santa, real looking reindeer and sleigh, and nice inside and outside details...and use the complete poem?

Extremely Happy with my Hallmark "Night Before Christmas" Pop-Up Book from Escape Fiction
I recently purchased this vintage Hallmark book through Escape Fiction and I can honestly say, I am extremely happy with my purchase. I live in a more remote, rural, area of Canada, and finding these kinds of finds is quite difficult. The book was shipped in 2 weeks when it was estimated it would take 6 weeks. I remember reading this Christmas treasure when I was a very young girl and I am so thrilled I am now able (after 35 years) to give it to my own kids this Christmas who will hopefully enjoy it as much as I did. Compared to some of the other books that are listed on Amazon, this version that I bought is absolutely in EXCELLENT condition. No rips, no tears, no missing parts, no markings. It is a brand new book and I am so thankful for the research I did on it. I want to thank Escape Fiction for the discount they also gave me on this book. They are excellent booksellers and should be recognized for that. THANK YOU!!

Beautiful book!
This Clement C. Moore/Mary Engelbreit illustrated version is by far the BEST Night Before Christmas book for children. It's the perfect size, the pictures are EXQUISITE, so much color and detail that you can't stop looking at the pages. Other books I've seen with this title haven't come close to the beauty of this book. I've purchased one for every new baby that has come into our family so their parents can read it to them every Christmas Eve. It's a wonderful tradition to start. I highly recommend it.

Okay
Bought a used one, started in discription it had been used, and may have signs of wear, it arrived with a rip in the cover and what looks like a big mark where sticky tape has been pulled of on the inside cover and it's left a big damaged mark.. my own fault for buying used.. will buy new from now on, just me being picky.. but over all the story is still readable and will bring lovely festive family reading on Christmas Eve..

A feast for the eyes, but ...!
I bought this to replace an old copy of the Clement C. Moore poem illustrated by D.Gorsline, and though there is so much fascinating detail in the colourful illustrations done by Mary Engelbreit, they are not so true to the content of the poem as the older book. For example, there is no trace of Father Christmas's clothes being 'all tarnished with ashes and soot'. And where is his 'little round belly' in the picture opposite this line? There is something like this on almost every page, where artist's licence has been over-used. There are elves everywhere, but none mentioned in the poem. When reading to a child, I like to point out details in the picture that have been mentioned in the text, but in in these illustrations one is struggling to find an exact match. However it's a wonderful book to share with children, simply to talk about the pictures, but in addition I've just ordered a copy of the Gorsline version at £2.50, which is more faithful to, and enhances the poem itself.

Summary of the Night Before Christmas
I have previously ordered this book. The previous book had a different illustrator who was much better, but I wasn't displeased with my choice this time.I have a favour to ask whoever reads this. I read a Lee Childs book a long time ago. The book featured Jack Reacher, but the story line included his brother Joe Reacher, who was incarcerated in prison and whom Jack visited. I am trying to get ALL the Reacher novels and in looking through your library I have chosen the ones I need to order. I have read all the synopses, but none of the ones I wish to order have this story. Can you help me find the book I am looking for?I have looked on a lot of web sites and now am lost as to what to do next. Please help.
