Great Packaging! I’ve used these for a few months now on a daily basis. After sharpening, they hold their edge for quite sometime. I’ll give them an occasional strop and keep on working.Personally, I love the handles. Not slippery at all . The chip knife is awesome and I’m able to get amazing details! The Sloyd is great! Runs through end grain of hardwoods with ease! The spoon knife is wonderful as well! Especially across the grain!

Usually, I make my own carving tools, but wanted something quick for my daughter to try carving. These have a smaller handle than any of my personal blades, so it works better for her smaller hands. Gave her this set to try out and it was surprising how sharp and long the held an edge lasted. Want to know she really likes carving before I make a custom set, because it takes a long time. If you're just starting out carving, then I highly recommend trying these. Cut resistant gloves are a good idea as well, but the sharping stone it comes with is not so good.

This whittling set is great for beginners!While the grip is a little small for my liking, it feels smooth when carving into wood. The three blades create a balanced and versatile tool set: a small blade for tiny details, a larger blade for carving away bigger areas, and a hooked blade for when you need to make a hole/depression (i.e. open space inside spoons). They each have a small plastic cover you can use to minimize unintentionally cutting yourself.You'll need to sharpen it between uses, of course with use and wear, but the leather strop (the tan fabric included in the set) does a great job when the green compound is applied on top. It has a smooth and rough side, so you can sharpen tools to your liking.The case is basic, but it's small and compact for easy travel. It even laps over your tools, keeping your tools from falling out or being exposed. Plus, there is a strap designed to hold the case in a closed position too!Overall, i'd recommend this product to those starting out. Its cost and quality makes it a great investment for those looking to try smaller wood carvings for the first time. Cheers to crafting your first project!

The set is awesome and the price is even better! The only set back was the handle on the chipping knife was pretty rough on the end opposite on the knife. To the point it is kinda uncomfortable to grip tightly (without a glove). Other than that this set is a great deal!

I purchased this set for my 10 year old son, who wanted to get into the hobby. He finds beginner videos on YouTube and follows along. He's already carved up about 4 - 5 little projects. I'd have to say I'm quite impressed with how they came out. This set is perfect for him as it contains everything he needs to follow along with the techniques. The knives are extremely sharp and accurate, which I believe contributes to his success. What made this purchase even more gratifying was that the owner of the company sent us a hand written letter thanking us for the purchase. He left his contact info if we had any questions or concerns about the product or the hobby. It's nice to see a company that cares beyond just the purchase of the product. I highly recommend this beginner set to anyone, even young ones, who want to start their journey in the art of wood carving. I have found these blades to be excellent in quality and value for money. Just remember to strop the blades frequently and they will stay razor sharp and allow you to create marvelous carved creations.

It was donated to Ducks Unlimited Canada with 2 small carvings to try. I have no idea what they received for it in the silent auction

I found the handles to be short, bare unfinished and small in diameter.This unfortunately let down the excellent blades. Maybe okay for a child but not an adult.
