Really Slow
This is a really slow strategy game that is not for everyone. I chose to check it out because I like Dynasty Warriors and enjoyed Dynasty Tactics... I knew this was going to be a whole new beast. It takes a lot of time and effort to create a powerful army to fight and stand a chance against any of the rulers... but it is so worth it... You can also create your own ruler and officers which could have any number of special abilities that could determine the outcome of a battle, bribe an officer to your side, make a officer rebel, cause a revolt, or burn another rulers supplies.+ You can create a ruler and officers to play in one of six scenarios the game has or just start out as one of the rulers already there... in addition you can make officers all of whom are blessed with special abilities... including leading different units... in addition you can also make officers the children of other officers or rulers and the children usually share the abilities of their mother/father.- Technically once you get past the special units of Rams, Catapults, and Navy units... there are only 3 types of units in the game... Infantry, Cavalry, and Crossbows.. (Not Archers despite the skill)(Okay technically 6 since there are 3 types of crossbows) In addition when you create a ruler/officer you are limited in the Kin line to the officers you created yourself and the Rams,Cats and Naval units are limited to certain areas in the game... in addition if the main commander does not have the ability to lead anything other than say Infantry... that's what you are limited to for that unit. (Though if they have Cavalry and Archers you can lead Infantry seeing as to how this is the most basic unit)+ The Duels in the game are fun to watch.- Unfortunately unless the computer thinks it can beat you there are not going to be many duels.+ The video clips are pretty cool- You've seen better even for the time of this game.+ Building an army is really fun and beating other rulers is fun.- Relatively speaking if you have time to build said army is up in the air. (Save often and expect to hit reset a lot if you create your own ruler.)+ The plots are cool when they work.- Getting them to work is hard even if you have the officer with the right stats.+ Being able to set up Civil Officers, Advisers, and Marshals is cool and they can give you advice and tell you when plots are likely to work.(Adviser does the latter I think)- Unfortunately the Adviser or whoever is not always right.+ Being able to do tactics during a battle is awesome.- Unfortunately the battle scenes themselves are unworthy of said awesomeness. (Honestly the graphics look like something from a 16 bit machine and are not that impressive)However, despite the graphics... if you have plenty of time this is a must have game for the Saturn.Truly one of the classics on the system that should not be forgotten by anyone. (Especially if you are a strategy/Rpg fan).
