The Girl in Cabin 13 (Emma Griffin® FBI Mystery)

This book kept me interested until the very end and now I really can't wait to read the next one!

It was a well written note vel that held my attention until the end. But, I never like it when I figure out who the bad guy is before the authors big reveal..

I haven't read such a great mystery like this in a long time. I'm truly impressed and can't wait to read the next book.

I enjoyed the storyline of this book. FBI agent goes undercover to find missing and presumed dead people in a small close knit town. She ends up falling for the owner of a popular bar and learns about the people and that's how she eventually learns who the killer is. My favorite part of the book was when she learned what became of the bodies, wow. Quite the revelation. The whole book is told from her perspective so we see only what she is told. Maybe its because I read so many psychological thrillers but that made it easy for me to figure out who the culprit is and that also bothered me about her character. She's supposed to be an FBI agent but she doesn't see through what's being told to her. Not to mention, she doesn't act like an agent; she often acts like a belligerent rogue who doesn't follow orders or do proper crime scene protocols. I wanted to scream every time she left out crime scene photos. Then again, if she hadn't done so, it wouldn't have furthered the plot. This book is part of a series so there are plenty of loose ends with regards to her personal life (and likely why she is the way she is). I imagine she will eventually find what happened to her father and ex boyfriend at some point; these are intriguing storylines in themselves. All in all this is a short read and I'm glad a girlfriend lent me the book.

AJ Rivers specifically requests that we review the book so that he can become a better writer. I love that. It's close to getting 5 stars, but like many other reviews you've probably seen, the killer becomes obvious a little too soon. I will admit, I wasn't as sharp as some of the other reviewers, but I would have liked the suspense to last a bit longer. The story line though, is super. I love the layers and the originality of the story. I love the complexity of the characters. I don't love how naive Emma is, for her to be an FBI agent. I would expect it to take much longer for her to be so trusting with someone else, especially a male....and even more so since someone has just died on the front porch of her rental cabin at the very moment she arrives. I'd certainly hope an FBI agent is a little more guarded than that. Overall a great read. Not blockbuster, but great. I've already ordered the next several in line (and already read the next 2) and I'll be reading the entire series. I can't wait to see her story unfold.

I thought I had it figured out, but I got blindsided! Never saw it coming. I highly this book. Enjoy!

I chose this book because I love mystery! And, I wanted to try a book by an author I was not familiar with The summary looked very good so I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm a slow reader but I could barely put this book down! Finished it in record time on the edge of my seat. I loved this book and author. So much so , I have. ordered the next book in the series. Can't wait to start!

This was my first read by this author. I enjoyed the book and the twists and turns it brought. Good read.

I've been unable to put the book down since I started reading. Nothing has quite captivated me like that in a while. It was all too easy to fall in love with the character of Emma. Emma's backstory has left me with a lot of questions I hope will unravel with subsequent books. This book is definitely worth the read. I was not expecting the full extent of what happened at the end of the book at all and was pleasantly surprised. I would definitely recommend. I'm about to buy the next book and very excited to get stuck back in

Pretends to be an FBI mystery. It is actually a corny girly story. From someone with well structured sentences but no idea of what an FBI agent thinks or works like. Definitely after a dead person in the first minute of the arrival would not be followed by a ice cream pancake as dinner!!!!

Gripping!

Emma Griffin is an FBI officer who's had a troubled past and recently a troubled career. As a shot of redemption she's sent to a sleepy little village as undercover in order to find a serial killer who's killed as much as 10 residents. She lives in cabin no 13, hence the title. The villagers look innocent and goofy at first but later she realises everyone holds a secret. The story is narrated in first person. Therefore, you don't get to see much about anyone else apart from the protagonist and a bit about the villian. However, the storytelling is such that you don't feel the need to know about anyone else. Also, the writing keeps you glued to the story and will suck you deep into the protagonist's mind. Recommended!
