Ok, so I wasn't expecting much from a packet pasta and at less than £1 a packet, but the smell and taste of this is really nauseating and just odd and unpleasant. I bought this hoping this would be an ok quick to prepare meal for when I'm struggling or don't have help, and being disabled, that it would be handy to have in the house. Unfortunately, as well as the taste and smell, it disappointed on ease of preparation too-ready meals take me less time and effort to make, although for someone able bodied, it shouldn't be a problem. Although it smelled off putting, it looked ok when prepared, then left to 'stand' as instructed on the packet. The use by date was pretty long-about a year and a half. The only positives. There's sort of a dog or cat food smell and taste to this combined with herbs that severly clash, rather than enhance or complement with what flavour there is. The basil really didn't work in a 'creamy' sauce-such a strange choice-almost like it was an afterthought and the makers just grabbed the first herbs they could find. Whoever formulated this recipe really, really should be working for Pedigree, Felix or Whiskas, not on human food, but what I want to know is how on earth did this get past quality control and taste tests?! I feel quite nauseous after eating it and the stench is permeating the house. I didn't detect any roast chicken or bacon flavour or smells. It smelt (and I can only imagine) tasted like what comes out of tinned cat or dog food. I keep expecting a dog to stroll into the room looking for it's dinner (I don't have one). Luckily I have a bottle of mouthwash to help get rid of the aftertaste. For info; I am reviewing the chicken and bacon flavour (just in case one of the other flavours is actually pleasant). So, if you like creamy dog food scented and flavoured pasta with basil, you'll love this! Otherwise, give it a miss and maybe have a pot noodle, ready meal or something else instead!
