It proves to be a reliable sealant that is easily removed. It also makes plumbing joints easy to unscrew in the future. This thread sealant came in a small plastic container that was sealed in a plastic bag to prevent leakage in shipping. When I removed the container from the bag, there appeared to be a small amount of oily leakage from the container which I dried with a paper towel. There is a small applicator brush integral to the cover. Since the service rating includes hot water, I used it to seal the threads on a new water heater anode rod that had been wrapped with Teflon tape. After gently tightening the threads on the new rod, I checked for leaks. There were none. Mission accomplished. While I used this compound on metal fitting threads, it should be useful for PVC screw on fittings, too.
