Review: Great waterproofing. - I bought this Scotchgard waterproofing spray to use on my shoes and jackets. I can say it works exceptionally well. One of my walking shoes developed a leakage though no holes was visible. I sprayed the Scotchgard deliberately, let it dry, then sprayed again. The shoes don't let water in anymore. I used it also on a couple of jackets. I was pleased there was no streaks left on the clothes and the waterproofing was very good. The spray does have a strong chemical smell so you need to use it in a well-aired place. Outside or on the balcony is fine. I think it's quite expensive at £10 a bottle. It does repel water up to a point but it doesn't fully waterproof it. What it does do is stop stains from sinking into the canvas. Any dirty smudges are easily removed once two coats of this have been applied. For that reason, it was worth the money. I'd advise you to use this outdoors. The smell is horrific and the fumes almost choked me to death.
