It is a classic movie, PERIOD! Enough has been written about it, so I will spare you of my thoughts.Having already owned an US version of this movie, I specifically purchased this item for German subtitles to help me go along with the German dialogues. By itself this two disk edition contains theatrical edition of the movie and the 6 episode TV edition with some extra scenes omitted from the movie version. It is region B format, unplayable by the US version standalone Bluray players, however it is easily playable on computer based hardware.Overall, IMHO this is much better, complete product that what we have been offered in the US, highly recommended.

I’ve been a fan of Das Boot for 30 plus years. On a whim, I ordered this complete miniseries from the UK with the hope my PC would play the blu rays. Yep, it did. For me, the hours of extra footage was well worth the time and money. Neatly broken into six months episodes you can break it up if you want or binge the series/movies. I like character moments in movies and the extra scenes add a lot to the greatness of Das Booy. Great purchase. English and German audio and subs available.

Love the high resolution remaster. I started watching thinking "how much could they really add?" It turns out quite a lot, which shouldn't be a surprise with all the additional runtime. But it's not just filler, it adds a lot to a story that already had a lot in it. If you haven't watched this version, you haven't seen the whole Das Boot.

Defect! Manufacturer WARNING ! DVD 1 is a general line production defect-see other comments that noticed the same thing, this means entire lot is defective, please replace! BUYER BEWARE !
