Makes Tank Maintenance Effortless
This system completely changed how I handle water changes. I no longer have to carry heavy buckets back and forth, which makes maintenance faster and cleaner. The suction power is strong and steady, and it pulls debris out of the gravel with almost no effort. It connects easily to the faucet, and draining or refilling the tank is simple and mess-free. After using it a few times, I can’t imagine going back to the old way. It’s one of those products that actually delivers on convenience and saves real time every week.

Finally...
Been carrying buckets for far too long. Did my research and got me the 50’ Python. Turns out the only sink I can really hook up to is the deep sink in my garage (thus the 50’ and not something shorter). It’s more expensive to get the extensions than it is to just get the 50’. So that plus a 2’ intake tube. As I read in previous reviews, getting hooked up on a deep sink faucet can be a challenge too. Turns out, it’s true. I purchased the adapter that I thought would fit but it’s different. Fine thread vs. coarse thread really. If you look at my picks, the q1st is the stock adapter that will get you from the hose to a regular faucet. The 2nd is the adapter, my new adapter I got from a plumbing store ($4) and the handle to the deep sink faucet which I used to show the plumbing store guy what kind of thread I needed to hook up to. Voila. So that issue solved, I did my first water change tonight and it was AWESOME! This this works fantastic. Just as advertised. Easiest water change over ever done. It’s a little slow on the initial uptake but once the water hits the smaller tubing, the pressure builds up nicely. Switching over to fill (I got the fill hook tube too) was easy and clean. Switched the sink attachment to fill and it was done. Drained and stowed. Easy day. So...al in all the construction and pieces and let’s are all top quality and the price is right for everything. While they offer a few adapters they don’t have the one that gets you to a coarse threaded deep sink end. Easily solved but it was an extra step. Nevertheless, this is a fantastic solution if you don’t want to deal with multiple buckets.

The best aquarium cleaner, easy clean, easy fill
This aquarium vacuum is the most amazing item to own if you love your aquarium but hate the messy necessary water changes. I used to work in an all fish pet store and this was the vacuum we used both in store and for our commercial clients. The process is SO SIMPLE!! You simply screw the attachment onto your faucet, the hose length is your choice but a 25 ft. hose will clean all your tanks from a central location in your home. Need a 50 ft. the suction is just as efficient, once the adapter is on your faucet you simply turn on your water, set the adapter to drain, by pulling the bottom down and clockwise, (there are markings on it to direct you on fill/drain) you will hear the suction it causes through the hose, the higher the water pressure the more suction you have. Place the vacuum tube into your gravel and simply go along the bottom of your tank and the dirty sediment and fish waste will go down the drain, no messy buckets, once you’ve done about a 1/3 water change along the gravel bottom, pull up the vacuum tube, don’t remove it, go back to your sink and turn the adapter to fill by pushing up and turning counter clockwise, make sure the water temperature is set to be as close to your tanks water temperature because as soon as you turn the adapter to fill, you will see the water going through your hose to fill your tank, NO MESS, no buckets, in minutes you can do a partial water change as a full water change is never recommended to keep the proper balance of ph in your tank. This Python will make tank cleaning so easy you will want to buy more tanks because the ease of cleaning them has been answered!! I LOVE this device, an absolute MUST for anyone who loves their fish and their aquariums!!

Python No Spill Clean and Fill works well
All in all, the Python 50 foot does work very well for me. I had to buy the 50 foot version as I needed just about 5 feet more then the 25 foot one. So I have quite a bit of excess hose that does make it a bit difficult to work with for me. But that isn't any fault of the Python construction. I did have to use both hot and cold water for one of my tanks to get it to syphon and I'm not sure why as it worked fine with just the cold water for the first tank. The second tank is a little further away and I went around and over some furniture. Maybe that affected it, I don't know. Next water change i will do the furthest one away first and see what happens. I have a 5 gallon tank also, but I don't think that it would work on one so small, but for anything bigger, it will work well, and as advertised. The only thing I didn't like was that the connector to the faucette let water squirt out a bit and when filling back up the tanks there was even more, so I just tossed a towel over the faucette and connector and that contained the water spray perfectly. This is my first time using this product or any like it, and have only used it so far, for water changes twice. It sure beats carrying buckets!

High quality and efficient for large tanks
It's a learning curve to use! I think you have to figure out your own methods of what you like to do once you have the Python. I have been using the bucket method for years and it has never been a big deal, but recently I upgraded nearly three times my original tank size. I have heard that many professional fish hobbyists use the Python so I really wanted it. It is definitely expensive, but it is more efficient and the high quality parts will last longer. Here is my process: I unravel the hose and put the tube in the tank. I make sure that the hose is deep enough in the tank and that the lid keeps it from flipping out. I screw the other end of the hose to the nearest faucet. ( I didn't know that there was a piece on faucets that unscrews because it looks like it's just a part of the rest of the faucet.) I turn on the cold water on the faucet and run back to my tank to supervise the suction. I wouldn't want the hose to come out or for it to suck up my fish. I do my simple gravel vacuuming and then I leave the hose with the lid on until it drains the point in happy with. Once I think I've emptied enough water, I go and turn off the faucet. I do a quick clean while the tank is half empty and then I put the faucet attachment into fill mode. I turn on both cold and warm water and continue to feel the inside of my tank every few minutes to make sure it's the right temperature. It's at this point I add my water conditioner and supplements. Once the tank is nearing full, I simply turn off the water. If you have to leave for a minute, and do not have time to empty the water from the hose, you must remove the hose to let the suction go. Then you can rest the hose somewhere high so the water doesn't leak out of the hose ( I am able to rest it on my stand cabinet securely.) When I had left the hose in while I was cleaning or went to go check something else, I found that my tank started siphoning the tank water back down into the sink because it had created a natural vacuum. You will know this is happening if you have the sink turned off but you can still hear water running. When you're ready to pack up the hose, you leave it attached to the sink, and lift the hose high to let the water run down as you wrap up the hose. You can hear the water empties itself into the sink as you wrap up the hose. If you do this right, there won't be very much water left to sit in the hose. I always have some extra water sitting in it but I live in the southern United States and I keep my Python in the garage, so the water usually evaporates. I really never use the switch, especially when filling, because the high pressure tends to cause some spray and also it is scary when you switch it back when the pressure has built up. Overall, the python is pretty essential to any hobbyist with a large tank.

So easy to use, the pregnant woman does water changes!
After reading reviews on this Python water changer and the Aqueon one, I was rather torn between the two. Eventually, I went with the Python and haven't regretted my decision at all. I'm currently 8 months pregnant and have no issues doing water changes for our 55 gallon tank which would have been pretty much impossible for me if I'd had to haul buckets back and forth. If you want the short and sweet version, just buy this now. It's the best investment I have made other than the fish themselves. A few notes below... 1) I have a Delta kitchen faucet and there was no way to connect it to this, not even with adapters from home improvement stores, just due to how the aerator is supposed to seal on the faucet. Well, it could connect, but it leaked like crazy and was far less effective. Thankfully, I was able to use the brass adapter that came with the product on my bathroom faucet and that's the one I use for the water changes now. 2) I've noticed that the suction isn't the greatest, regardless of whether I leave the water running in the bathroom while vacuuming or not (you can turn the water off once the suction has been established). It's manageable but I find myself reaching for my normal siphon and a bucket to "pre-clean" if there are particularly dirty areas. This is probably due to there not being a great difference in height between the tank and bathroom sink. Again, works well enough most of the time, just not when I'm feeling really OCD about seeing debris sitting on top of my sand. 3) The hose itself is very pliable which is awesome and makes the process very easy. 50 feet is a bit of a pain to roll up again, though. I am tempted to get a hose reel but that may or may not work well since I have to go pretty slowly and raise the coil above the sink level to get it to drain excess water in the hose when I'm finished. Minor annoyance given how much time and effort this thing saves me otherwise. 4) Construction is solid. Yes, some pieces are plastic but they're pretty heavy duty. As long as you don't try to he-man the connection when you screw it on, you can get a tight fit with no leaks and no plastic cracking or breaking. Even if you do, there are replacement parts which is great and saves me from having to buy an entirely new one in the future. 5) I saw a few complaints about the refill process, but again, no issues for me. I temperature match the water, reverse the flow so it starts to fill the tank and let it run. You can continue temperature testing if your water supply can't hold a steady temperature, but that's not the fault of the device. As it fills, I occasionally add 1/4 tsp of Seachem Prime until I reach the total dose for my tank. If you have a saltwater tank, well... your mileage will probably vary. Overall, I'd say I can be done with a 50% water change in 15 or 20 minutes. Totally worth it and I'm sure my fish are happier with more regular and quicker water changes!

Makes water changes way easier.
If you're tired of lugging buckets around during water changes, just get this. I’ve been using two of these Python systems for a while now—one strictly for draining and one for filling—and it’s made aquarium maintenance so much faster and cleaner. Setup is simple, and the 50-foot length easily reaches from my tanks to the nearest sink. No spills, no mess. The suction is strong enough to vacuum the gravel well, and I love that I can do partial water changes without disturbing the fish too much. Having two separate systems also keeps things clean—no risk of cross-contaminating dirty water into the refill line. It’s a little investment up front, but it saves time, effort, and your back in the long run. Highly recommend to anyone with medium to large tanks.

Doesn’t generate enough pull to draw water
Universal adapter… questionable. The whole thing except the air pump can be built for eur20 from any hardware store. I did not manage to create enough suction from my gravity fed system to empty an aquarium. The taps connected to the main can’t be attached to the “universal” adapter. So far I am planning on returning it. Will probably go to the hardware store and see if I can find another adapter but…

Best thing ever!
So easy. 50ft of hose. You can also buy a hook separately for this. I have it hooked to my bathroom sink. Just had to take the aerator off. All you gotta do is put the vacuum in the tank and go turn the tap on until the water goes all the way to the tap and then you can turn of the tap. The suction is good enough to keep sifting the water. No need to waste water!! Most people dont know this. Once your done emptying, either put the hook on or if you dont have one, switch the green part on the tap part to fill and turn the tap back on. Add your conditioner directly to your tank before your start filling. Great quality hose, attachment are useful. All fish keepers with tanks bigger than 20 gallon tanks should have this!
