Good backup drive
For years I've had an empty external drive case designed for an 80Gb hard drive, so I decided to finally put it to use. Plug and Play.!

Brought a discarded older laptop back to life
I was able to install this quickly into an older HP NC6000 laptop. I initially booted from a USB drive and installed Peppermint 10 OS (Linux) on the laptop, removed the USB drive, and booted the laptop. It booted right into Peppermint 10 OS. I configured the OS for use, and I've been running Linux on this re-purposed laptop (with the new 80 gb hard disk) without a problem since.

貴重なIDE HDD
箱で届きました。新品で動作問題無しです。 PowerBook G4 チタン 15インチのHDDが不調になったので交換しました。 消費電流5V 0.55Aなのもgoodです。 迂闊にSSD化すると3.3V 1.5Aとかだとパソコンにダメージ与えてそうで避けました。 元が40GBなので容量が倍になり丁度良く、値段も両親的と言うよりお買い得でした。

MS-DOS6.2で稼働している装置の交換用に使用しました
工場にMS-DOS6.2で稼働している装置に内蔵されているHDDが稼働より20年以上経過しいつ壊れてもおかしくない状況だったので交換に踏み切りました。 MS-DOS6.2は8GBまでしか認識しないので、BIOS上で容量を固定したりする手間はありましたが無事交換完了。 本当は装置ごとリプレースしたいところですが、もう少し頑張ってもらえそうです。 新品のIDE HDDは貴重です。 ２台購入し、１台不具合がありましたがショップに連絡するとすぐに代品を送っていただけました。 高評価です。

古いものはやめた方が良いのかも
以前購入した玄人志向のIDE HDDケース(GW2.5 IDE-U")2台が未使用のまま保管されていたので，有効活用のため外套と判断される本商品を購入した。価格もUSBメモリ並みなので魅力的に感じた。 このケースはWindows11にも適応とあったのですぐに使用できると思っていた。 しかし，ケースに装着してUSBにつないだが電力不足せいなのか作動音がなく，補助電源につないで，HDD自体は回転していることが分かったが，PC(ASUS Note)で認識されず，使用できていない。 ケースに問題があるのか，現時点では不明。 このままだとHDDが無駄になってしまうのでIDEアダプターを購入してトライしてみるつもり。

安定のWD
過去に、バラクーダ、東芝、バッファローなどのメーカーを使ってきましたが、すべて5年以内に潰れました。 WDのHDDは現在、15本程度運用していますが今の所、5年以内に潰れたのは1本だけです。安定していて信頼できるHDDです。特に7200rpmモデルは読み込みシークスピードは速い。
