great little book
this is a great book for the beginner astrophotographer. Its nice the way Alan Hall shows you what month the target is in the sky and how large it will be in your scope. He also gives you some ideas on how much time you will need to get a decent picture, and even a little bit about processing it photo. I have photographed some of the targets in this book and look forward to photographing more in the future. My only complaint is the photos are in black and white, but if you want to see what the targets look like and exactly where they are in the night sky I recommend you download Stellarium. Overall a nice book .

A Valuable Reference for Beginners
For a beginner in astrophotography, in can be a daunting task to pick deep sky subjects that offer a chance of success. With the steep learning curve of this hobby, it's good to get some positive feedback to keep you going. The author provides plenty of guidance that help get those images, which in my case gave me the confidence continue with the hobby.

Nice descriptions, pictures not so good
I liked the information as to equipment settings, but the B&W photos were terrible- barely visible. I returned.

Must Have!
Excellent book for someone who knows the basics of astrophotography and wants to improve their skills. The author's specific suggestions for good targets, exposures, and processing tips for using a DSLR camera on a modest telescope will have you taking great images in a short time.

A disappointing book that could have been better.
As someone that has a telescope a tracking mount and a DSLR I thought this book might help.My main criticism of this book, would be the camera setting the author used and recommends.Exposures of several minutes are not realistic for most people using a telescope without a guide camera and yet in a book described as being for beginners exposures of several minutes are used at an ISO of 800 and guide cameras are not mentioned. When I get a guide camera I shall use those settings but as a beginner I do not yet have one.On the plus side, the book is organized by monthly time periods showing when targets are best viewed and there are star charts. The book does show what you might expect from an initial image and later from a stacked image.

NOT IN COLOUR!
The media could not be loaded. Just arrived, and I'm so disappointed that it's not in colour. Well the front cover obviously. Misleading some would say. So until I've gone through and used it I'm leaving it at 2 stars and will update as necessary.I know some of the real life images would be non colour so as to speak but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't expecting some. ☹️
