Great Bipod
This is a rock solid bipod. It gives you the stability you need to make the long shots with confidence. I have typically used Harris bipods in the past. At less than half the price, I gave this one a chance. So far it seems every bit as good with one bonus over the Harris models I have used. The legs pivot which means no more picking the whole thing up to re-position if your intended target moves to the side. I use it for coyote hunting which means it gets a lot of use on every outing. I have taken it out seven or eight times in the two weeks I have had it and have had no problems whatsoever. My rifle is a tad under 13 pounds. This bipod has no problem with the weight. I used it on a night hunt and had no problems setting it up in the dark. I'm 6'4" and it is a little tall for me if it is fully extended. The segmented rings around the lower leg make it easy to get the length right every time by simply feeling how many rings are protruding past the upper segment of the leg. This is a big plus at night when its dark. If you are looking for a quality bipod at an affordable price, this seems to be a great option. If I encounter any problems, I will update this review. UPDATE: I have been using this bipod for about two years now. I am still very happy with it. Most of the use has been with a .223 Rem, but I have also used it with a .300 Win Mag. I haven't fired a lot of .300 win mag rounds while using it, but it has held up to the recoil just fine so far.

Why Pay More?
I'm not new to shooting, but this is my first bipod. I read articles about bipods and wondered if I really had to spend $100+ to get something of good quality. I'm happy to say that this Caldwell is excellent. It does exactly what I need it to do. It's a sturdy apparatus, and the push-button spring-loaded legs are impressive for this price range. I don't see why I would spend more; I can't imagine another product being that much better. This does the job, and it even allows you to pivot the gun without completely resetting the stand. One helpful note: I wasn't sure which size to get, but I'm glad I went with the 9-13". Though the measurements refer to the height of the bipod itself, that's not how high the GUN will be from the surface you're shooting from. When you swing the legs down, the bipod loses height because they're diagonal instead of vertical. My rifle actually measures 8 to 12 inches from the shooting surface to the bottom of the gun. If you're measuring to the barrel itself, it's truly 9 to 13 inches. Keep that in mind. I'm glad I didn't go any smaller or I'd only be able to use it laying prone, and even then I'd have to keep my chin to the ground. I can use the 9-13 for anything from laying prone (propped on my elbows) to shooting from a bench rest.

A very solid product with a few minor flaws
This is the second bipod I've purchased, overall I'm very happy with it. Pros: *Rust proof- I've had it out in some terrible weather and never cleaned it and it hasn't shown a spec of rust. Even the screws and springs are rust proof. *Great swivel movement- The pivot swivel is designed well and allows a wide range of motion while still holding the gun steady. *Very stable- The bipod is stable enough to confidently sight a gun in with at 100 yards. I used it to sight in a .223 rifle and it is very accurate. I later put the same gun in a sled and only needed to adjust 1/4" to fine tune. I've taken several 100 yard shots at small game using the .223 and this bipod and haven't missed yet. Great for open fields. *Length- Fully extended I can sit vertical on the ground and take comfortable shots. At 6'4" with a long torso I was worried it might not be tall enough but it does the trick. Cons: *A slight defect on my bipod, one of the four releases the spring does not work very well, if gravity doesn't take it I have to manually pull it out. Don't have the same problem with the identical release on the other leg, so I'm positive it's just a defect. It didn't bother me enough to return it. *The design creates 4 pressure points at the release joints where the bipod legs will rub your gun if you carry it with a sling. I put 4 small padded adhesives on these areas to prevent the bipod from damaging my guns. Wish the bipod came with a more professional solution installed. *Length- Fully collapsed the bipod is a bit too tall to shoot comfortably from the prone position. I knew this beforehand, but wish there was a 3 joint system to allow a 9"-27" range. Since no one makes a bipod with this range, I'm assuming that logistically it just doesn't work. It's more of a "In a perfect world" comment, not a complaint on the product.

Great value
Quality product at a reasonable price. I used this on a pronghorn antelope hunt back in October- worked like a charm in the sitting position with the legs fully extended for a 291 yard shot- I highly recommend

Fit my Remington 700 no problem
I ordered this to go on a Remington 700 that I had acquired and wanted to go with a more solid swivel mount over the barrel clamp style I have been using for all my rifles. (Universal was nice, but it can only take you so far, had to upgrade for my bolt action) This fits super easy if you already have a swivel stud installed. It took all of about 30 seconds to install once my dumb brain figured out the clamp had a protective plastic cover over the bits that hold the swivel. I have had this on the rifle for a while and shot with it and handled it in several situations including shooting and moving and it holds up well. It hasn't shaken itself loose at all and the legs snap easily into place and are easy to get back up when you want to move. They also extent to a full length at the click of a button and if you want to hold them at a shorter than max extension length they will hold in place at several adjustments. The swivel works well for uneven terrain and you won't even notice it unless you are looking for it. Your body will naturally align the scope to be right with the target but the swivel isn't so loose that it will fall over on you if you don't hold onto it. Basically there are no drawbacks to this and there is no reason to spend money on anything else more expensive. I plan to grab a few more for other rifles I have. This size is perfect for almost any real world hunting or competition shooting position you can think of.
