Review: Worth adding to your fashion library - As with all Fiell Fashion Sourcebooks, this book is a great addition to a fashion library. True, the 1970s were not known for fashion glamour. But this book brings out some of the best that the decade had to offer. Plus, you can also view the trends that trickled down to the common fashions that average folks like me used to wear: hot pants, peasant dresses, platform shoes etc. The only thing conspicuously lacking is that there is little from the later years of the decade.

As with all Fiell Fashion Sourcebooks, this book is a great addition to a fashion library. True, the 1970s were not known for fashion glamour. But this book brings out some of the best that the decade had to offer. Plus, you can also view the trends that trickled down to the common fashions that average folks like me used to wear: hot pants, peasant dresses, platform shoes etc. The only thing conspicuously lacking is that there is little from the later years of the decade.

There is an almost complete lack of color photographs (from a decade known for its, um shall we say *unique* color palette). Also the book focuses almost exclusively on 'catwalk' fashion as opposed to what actual people wore. It delivers what is promised, a big book with lots of fashion pictures, but it could have more. Also, while it is good at identifing photographers, the models for the most part remain nameless.
