Has anyone removed the other 3 buttons and attached them with a string and Velcro or would it tear the yellow shirt?

No, but I would say the yellow material is not very sturdy. So I would be hesitant.

I see the answer that the shirt is sewn on and does not come off. Is it possible to cut it off so that it can be modified with all buttons removable?

Yes I did it I didn't take the jacket off but removed all the buttons and put Velcro on them and a ribbon to keep them reeled in

Are the hands moveable? For instance can you clap with the puppets hands ?
