Still a beginner but was pleasantly surprised by the comfort and function of these skates. I skated as a teen in Riedells -- lovely skates but too narrow for my feet now. They've widened since having kids, and Jackson's padded boots (and going up a half size) were a much needed upgrade. Our local blade sharpener was out sick, so I didn't get them sharpened before the first lesson, but the blades were already sharp enough for beginner-level stuff on the ice. (I don't recommend anyone trying that, but kudos to Jackson for not leaving them as dull as rental skates.)
