My 13 and a half year old collie has a chronic leg injury and often needs help getting up. She also frequently needs help stabilizing when she defecates. The velcro closure on the harness holds it securely in place and the handles are adjustable so that I can adjust them for my height. I usually leave it on her during the day and sometimes at night. She doesn't seem bothered by it at all. I bought a second one so that I will always have one to use while the other one is in the wash.One caution: I would probably not leave it on my dog at night if she didn't sleep right beside me, so that I would instantly know if the handle should become caught on something.
