Make sure when you buy gold and silver it is real gold and silver and not plated. Rhodium does not usually turn your skin green.

Do they look cheap? Can I wear them to a party and get by if no one is looking closely??

They're actually quite nice you get a ton of earrings for the price I was just looking for some silver earrings because I really didn't have any just to wear and I got silver and gold a few of them look a little cheap but for the most part they're really nice you can't tell that they're not sterling silver. I would imagine that in time they would look less shiny but overall pretty good product.
