Hornwort, also known as Coontail, has sturdy, layered hair-like foliage that helps oxygenate and clarify the water as well as keep algae growth to a minimum. It is found free-floating worldwide, in moving and still waters, or loosely anchored in muddy bottoms. The tips will shorten and thicken in fall, before falling off and settling on the pond floor to spend the winter as buds. In spring, these buds grow to repopulate the pond. Hornwort leaves are dark green and grow from a 1/2 to 1-1/2 inches long on stems that can reach 24 inches in length. They may be potted or just left to float in the pond. You will receive several stems in one bunch tied with at the bottom. You can plant as is or you can release them and allow them to float. These plants need at least 8 hours of light per day and they absorb nutrients through its stems so they do not root. Approximate Purchase Size: 6" to 8" Review: Seller made good on replacing plants - I ordered the Hornwort Bunch Plants for my Aquarium. When they arrived, they didn’t look healthy and were a dark brown color. Since the description said they can be acclimated for aquariums and they will turn lighter green over time, I went ahead and put them in my tank. Within a week I couldn’t even find them. The plants literally disintegrated and left a brown film all over the tank. Because of the numerous negative reviews, I was concerned that I would not be able to get a replacement. I contacted the seller and explained what happened. I got an immediate reply stating that they would send me replacements. Those plants arrived within three days and were noticeably much healthier. It has been four weeks, and I am happy to report that they are all thriving. They are a nice addition to my tank, and provide extra coverage and hiding places for my Angelfish. Review: dead plants - I received the plants quickly, however they were very brown in the package. when i opened the plastic a horrible smell came out . I gently placed the plants in a gallon jug of fish tank water. after gently swishing i tried to remove the plants using the metal binding. they fell apart and had only stems with few leaves. one bundle only had stems about one inch long , and those were soft and mushy. I tossed out the jug with the leaves outside because the smell was bad.I did put the plants in my hospital tank thinking they might grow. After about two weeks i had to do a total cleaning of the tank , filters, gravel.every thing turned further brown and mushy. the plants i tried to rescue smelled really bad and the leaves that it did have fell off and covered the gravel and clogged the filters. I have thrown the rest of the plants away so I don't see how i can ask for a refund.

Great little plants. Just do some pre-tank steps to keep from shredding in your tank
I was apprehensive about purchasing this because of reviews that said the plant shredded and made a mess out of their tank, but took a chance. Yes, plant shreds a little from the shock of shipping. Yes, there were some brown areas on the plants. However, my tank was fine because I 1) Rinsed the plants several times 2) Kept them in a bucket filled with water from my tank for a few days, even gave them some sun ... after that there was NO SHREDDING IN MY TANK... so with a little pre-tank care I have 3 nice ;plants that are known to do a great job with removing nitrates from the tank.

Plant was not in the best condition
Forgot look at the review before buying this. The plant came in 5 day from the order date and was faster then what was indicated which was good but the plant did not come green and vibrant as the picture it was brown, looks like it was dying. After seeing the condition, that is when I went the review. I read a review and it stated that the pines clogged their filter so I dumped the plant in a separate bucket before putting it in the tank so much of the pine came off, after rinsing the plant and thought I was good when placing it in my tank so much more pines came off had to clean my filter a few times to clear the clog and to get all pines and broken plant out of my tank. I am hoping the plant can be revived.

Bad quality
These pretty much have all died within the first few weeks of having them. The little pieces came off EVERYWHERE in my tank which left a huge mess to clean up. They were all brownish in color and I thought maybe that’s how it is supposed to be but after doing more research it’s not. It’s now been a month and I’ve done nothing but continue to try to remove the little pieces out of my two tanks and they have all been removed and thrown out. Very disappointed. Photo is what I’m still working on removing from one of my smaller tanks.
