Looks Factory Solid One Piece kit
Great install kit for a 2003 silverado. Did not need to do any trimming for my Pioneer MVH-291BT. Head was very snug in this dash kit. I liked the mostly one piece construction of this dash kit. Fills in seamlessly into the double din hole. Looks factory. The Scosche dash kit, i had purchased before this, was more expensive and had lots of gaps. The only thing i did not like is the CD tray has two holes in the back and the bottom edge. If you store a small item less than 1/2 inch, you may loose it into you dash. You could block these before install but was not a concern for my application. If you are adding an aftermarket radio to a 2003 silverado without Bose system/onstar, you may need a new wiring harness interface to retain factory chimes as the factory radio controlled the safety chimes. I purchased a scosche GM2000a, it includes the new radio harness and interface with speaker to retain the factory chimes.

Looks great! Shipped fast.
Just finished installing my Pioneer HU into my 2005 Silverado. Kit does it job and looks great, everything fit and lined up perfect! No complaints. For those with 2003+ Silverado (and probably other GM vehicles): The only problem I had was during the installation. The problem is that the 2003+ Silverados aren't plug and play and you need to buy another harness to connect to the headunit and factory harness. I went to a number of different stores like Advance Auto, Discount Auto Parts, NAPA, Best Buy, local car audio shops, etc. and only Best Buy would have had it, but even they were out of stock and would have costed me $100+. Then I tried Wal-mart and found the harness I needed for only $40... Soldered the radio harness and adapter harness together and was as easy as plugging the adapter into the factory harness and everything worked.

Did the job
Fit wasn't perfect for a 2004 Chevy Blazer had to be careful when I was installing it to keep it center as there was some room for it to shift. That being said I've used a lot of universal mounting kits and it's hit or miss as to weather the fit is perfect. It did the job and the radio felt secure. The finished job looked clean

Nice kit but may require modification for some common Single DIN units
This is a nice sturdy kit with a factory look. The assembled kit itself fits fine in my 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. However, as others have noted it is slightly too small to accommodate many common single DIN units, including my Alpine UTE-62BT. This is a little weird, since all of these units should be more or less the same - maybe Metra's tooling for this part is a bit out of spec. Anyway, I VERY gently used a rotary tool to widen the rear opening about a millimeter on the upper left and right edges (careful if you do this, the plastic in this area is thin). After doing this, perfect fit. I noticed some others must have run into this problem and just placed the radio further back, but that didn't look good to me. See pic for my final fit with the radio itself flush against the inside plastic; note that I did not need to modify any visible surfaces. I have also used the Scosche unit (which did not require any modification) in the past. This unit is sturdier and looks nicer. So, good kit if you're willing and able to carefully modify.

Cheap Fit
Im not one for bad reviews but this does not fit like a normal stereo kit. I've put stereos in several cars and this one is not secure and for the normal size stereo deck it is a couple mm off of fitting properly unless you want to break the cheap plastic kit. Find something else. I saw the same review and thought the guy must have been an idiot for trying to put it in wrong, when I was just the idiot for seeing the poor review and buying it anyway. Got my new one at Best Buy.

Worked well BUT....
This product fits well in a 2000 chevy cavalier. It is good enough quality for an older car and will work well for lots of people. My reason for three stars instead of five is that the deck that I purchased did not fit into this kit without modifying it quite a bit. If the cd player you are going to use has a flip down face it may not fit into this kit very well at all. I had to shave the opening larger with a dremel tool to accommodate the deck. The opening is not the true size of a single din deck opening. The metal bracket that usually holds a car stereo in place cannot be used with this kit but the deck will securely bolt to the provided plastic sides. It actually supports it quite well.

Those claiming the radio wont fit didn’t read directions.
This is a great kit. I’ve installed hundreds of them in my 5 years as a mobile audio installer. It does fit all single DIN radios, despite what some are claiming. With this kit you do not use the cage/metal sleeve or the plastic trim ring that come with the radio. You toss those out and instead you use the iso screws that come with the radio and screw the radio to the brackets on the left and right of this kit. There is adjustment in them so you slide the radio up against the back side of the mounting kit and make sure it’s straight and then snug them down. Word case, with some radios you might have trouble removing your faceplate. However I’m not aware of anyone who actually even removes their faceplates any more, and if you do have this issue, it’s nothing that shaving a teeny tiny bit of plastic off the hook on your radio face can’t take care of. Good stuff.

works well 04 Tahoe
I just used this on my '04 Tahoe to install an old Eclipse single din radio. I will be honest and say for the first 2 minutes I thought the negative reviews were correct, and there was no way the radio would fit. Then I figured out, the bare headunit (no sleeve, etc) slides in from the back side of the bracket, and then the side brackets on this kit get screwed in to the headunit to hold it. Instead of the typical way that you would slide the radio in from the front, and then use the radio's factory sleeve to hold it in. Overall this is one of the nicer ones I have used. If I had to list a couple negatives, I would say that the little brackets on the side could be a little heavier/stronger, and they could include a couple common screw sizes to hold the radio. I had a couple screws that were already attached to my old stereo that worked fine, but would have been nice to have a few more.

check for missing parts
Everything fits nicely but there was no mounting screws included in the kit. But I was refunded for the missing screws quickly.

Works in my 2004 GMC Sierra
Fits nicely, looks good. The space below the receiver is a nice size to hold a phone.
