Great fit and feel and function for the money spent.
The Minus 33 mid-weight, medium sized, long sleeve crew shirt is a wonderful layering piece. I like the fit for my medium size torso. I am 5’ 10” tall, 145 pounds and wear consistently, medium shirts. I have been using this this top layer over a Minus 33 Micro 1/4 zip T, which has been very functional while out snowshoeing in 24-40* temperatures. Yes, I have added a soft shell vest as needed along with my Minus 33 Ridge cuff beanie, Neck Gator, and fingerless gloves. What I like about the fabric of these shirts is, they have a smooth surface which tends to help them layer well. The arm lengths and body were comfortable. The pieces kept me warm and dry and for me, controlled Oder well. It’s worth noting that, I had also just bought a new Minus 33 micro 1/4 zip T to replace the one I had tested for Minus 33 well over a decade and a half ago and was still happily using. The new 1/4 zip T is functionally better especially with how well it layers-as is the medium weight mid-layer this review is about.

Initial Review - Update to come early December 2015
***This is my initial review after receiving the package and wearing the product. I bought this for hunting season in PA as well as skiing season here in NJ, and will be able to test it further and update this review by the end of the year. I bought this product because I am tired of looking and feeling like the Michelin Man during hunting season with my puffy down clothes and multiple layers. (Bought together with Katmai Men's Expedition Bottom). I want this to be my base layer, and then simply wear my hunting jacket over it. Skiing I've never had a problem wearing just a t-shirt and a jacket and actually wind up sweating because of the movement and I am always warm in general. But something about sitting in one spot while hunting really lets the cold seep in. I won't be able to update this review with how well it performs until the end of 2015, but here are my initial thoughts: Packaging: The packaging is simple, compact, and came with no issues. Fit: I'm 5'5, 140 pounds and have a waist size of about 29/30 inches. I bought a small, and both this top as well as the small Katmai bottoms fit perfectly. Tight fitting (how I usually like my clothing, especially base layers), but extremely comfortable and hugs the body well. The only thing you may have a problem with is that the sleeves (as other reviews have mentioned) run a tad short. If you stretch your arms out for example, your wrists may become exposed a bit. I love the fit, and this isn't an issue for me. Just throwing it out there for someone who may not feel the same. Warmth: I noticed as soon as I put these on, my entire body felt cooled down. This to me is a good thing, as it means instead of just trapping heat and moisture, the wool is allowing my body to breath while still retaining heat. To confirm this, I took everything off and felt the inside and they were very warm to the touch. Quality: The quality of the product is very good. The material feels good, looks good (good enough that you could actually wear this top in public with a nice pair of jeans and not feel strange about it) and even the tag is printed onto the shirt so there is nothing scratching at your neck. So far, I am very satisfied with this product. I will update when I can, and if it performs well I will be ordering more of different weights for the different seasons (even summer) because I really like the quality, fit, comfort, and breathability.

Excellent Product!
We are hunters and we have a big vacation planned in the near future going to Yellowstone National Park in the Winter. I live in Louisiana where our cold is a wet cold. But in Montana it is a dry cold. After reading many informative documents on how to dress for the cold and the extreme cold in Montana, I knew I needed to purchase some clothing made from Merino Wool. Merino wool wicks perspiration away from the skin. I don't need my my husband getting out in the cold and getting wet only to get pneumonia! Keeping dry helps to avoid hypothermia in the winter. I ordered my husband the tops and bottoms in the Mossy Oak Camo pattern in large. The fit is perfect. He will be using these as his base layer. This top is lightweight not bulky like I thought it would be. It is very soft and comfortable – not itchy at all. When I think of wool, I think of the heavy, thick, itchy, bulky material but not this 100% Merino Wool. The stitching is done perfectly. I washed his as soon as I received them in cold water and tumbled in the dryer on low. He has tried them on and is very pleased with them. He has not had the opportunity to wear these in the cold yet – still 100 degrees here in Louisiana but he has been wearing them in the house just to make sure they fit and are comfortable. They have passed that test and they are very warm so he can't wear them for long right now. I highly recommend this product. I paid full price for this item but a day after I purchased these, the price went up.

Best thing since sliced bread!
I've been researching and experimenting while trying to find the best base layer combo to keep me warm in 0-10 degrees weather without feeling like I'm wearing a knights' armor. I'm happy to say that I have finally found it... 1. Under Armour HeatGear Sleeveless Compression Shirt 2. Minus 33 Merino Wool Expedition Crew Neck It was important to me that: 1.) the fabric didn't weigh me down, 2.) it did not restrict range of motion to my arms and trunk, 3.) it did a great job wicking sweat and had good anti-odor properties, 4.) it had the right fit (I bought XL, I'm 215 lbs 5'11" tall, Waist Size 36"-38"), 5.) it was compact and light and didn't occupy too much space in my travel bag, 6.) and most importantly, it kept me warm in 0-10 degrees weather and not too hot on a 40 degree day. An added bonus is that they both dry quickly after washing. Which makes them IDEAL for ski/snowboard trips. You can throw them in the washing machine or hand wash them as soon as you get back from the slopes, say around 4 pm and hang dry them over night. And they will be more than ready to go the following day. Just make sure that you wash the merino wool inside out if you do throw it in the washing machine. I wear an Obermeyer Telluride Jacket (Cheap & Warm, But Look and Feels Very Expensive), Helly Hansen Warm Pant (Nice and Toasty), Salomon Bib Pants (Prevents snow from getting into your bum-bum) and Fox River VVS LV Socks (Thin, Warm, Great for the price). Overall, I'm very happy with my current configuration. I've spent less than $500 to keep myself dry, comfortable and mobile while snowboarding for over 7 hours at a time.

Soft, warm and worth the price for me
A year ago I bought one of these. I had reservations because $80 can be a tough sell when you are shopping online and can't actually feel/try the item yourself. Well it turned out to be a good buy so I'm here to get another. Working on a flight line at an airport, so I can be outside for a few minutes or for hours on end so they make sure we have good outer layers other than base layers. For the longest time I had just regular tees underneath it all but I heard from friends and around the internet about how nice wool can be if it's the right type, and they're right! By itself the shirt is cozy but breathes enough to keep it from making it super hot. When it's cold you're supposed to avoid working up a sweat but if I do and then cool down again the shirt absorbs the sweat and mostly prevents me from getting chilly. We are usually stop and go so it's very nice for my use case. The fabric is stretchy so it never feels tight even when I'm in weird contorted positions. Be warned though it can be delicate so try to keep it away from hook parts of velcro, sharp metal/wires, cat claws, thorn bushes, etc. Take care of it and it will take care of you

I bought the ( XL) I'm 6' - 230LBS - WAIST 36 INSEAM 33 )( And as far as for me the inseam is fine as a matter of fact i believe
Hi , To start off i washed them ( inside out ) on delicate and rinsed them twice and then i hung them to dried ( no dryer ) . With that being said , I did not try them on before washing . So as far as shrinkage ? I bought the ( XL) I'm 6' - 230LBS - WAIST 36 INSEAM 33 )( And as far as for me the inseam is fine as a matter of fact i believe i have a 1'-2' to play with after washing ). . My first impression is really soft ( easy on and off ) . They did not make me warm but they kept me warm / with no sweating and very comfortable ( no kidding ) and they moved so well with me they were a pleasure to wear . ( I bought the bottoms as well ) . What i mean by that is after wearing normal ( cotton ) thermals after a while they stretch out of shape and start to sag / clump up . Not so with these , They kept there shape ( and i slept in them ) and in the morning still nice . ( black shows everything ) So be careful what you'r around . They are light weight but comfortable and comfortable ,Not hot but comfortable . The bottoms when you pull them up high they sorta bind by your butt , In other words there not high waisted . And the top is a little bit longer than normal which is nice because can tuck them in and no butt crack showing . And they dried over-night hanging them .As far as for me the fit for my body type , was not tight or loose just about right . ( I'm keeping them ) . I hope this helps .Thanks .

Quality wool shirt.
Great Long sleeve wool shirt. Can use as a base layer, or regular shirt on cool days. The neckline fits well. Very comfortable and high quality. Medium fit perfectly. Would buy again.

Confusing! It keeps me cool! It keeps me warm! I am a Merinoholic!
I confess. I am a Merino Wool-aholic. I am a transplanted Californian living in the PNW and these long sleeve Merino wool pull overs are fantastic. I won't disclose how many I've bought because of the awesome colors or how often I wear them. I can stop any time...really I can! Kidding aside, this very well made pull over fits to size, is soft, is durable in the neck area as opposed to other brands (looking at you Kuhl) and is worth the price. PLUS you recycle it and it biodegrades and doesn't turn into microplastic. I strongly recommend these for their breathability and that weird wool capability of keeping you cool and warm as needed. I recently wore these on extensive hikes in Moab, Arches National Park, Zion, and Death Valley during the Spring and they supported me through significant temperature swings during the day. Buy one and try it out. If you get a black or grey one you can go out to white table cloth dining in it and people will think you are cool. If you get a blue or red you'll be high visibility out on your walk or hike. I think that it is worthwhile noting that you need to very gently wash and then hang to dry. Don't put these in the dryer at all.

I'm so glad I bought it.
I would recommend friends to save up for months, if they have to, to buy themselves one of these wool layers. It is flawlessly made, unbelievably soft to the touch, keeps me comfortable and warm like no other top I have to wear. I can't believe the comfortable warmth I feel wearing it. It is well worth the money, and I don't usually like spending this much on a top. But it is worth the money. I am an old woman who usually gets cold in the fall and winter, but not any more. Thumbs up!!!!!

Unbedingt empfehlenswert!
