I want to raise the monitor above a 27 inch monitor.** A: It won't do that. I can't answer exactly but, I KNOW it won't do that. It isn't a bad stand. I bought it because it states it supports up to a 32" monitor. My goal was to put a 32" monitor in portrait mode. It would NOT support the weight of my brand new Lenovo 32" monitor. I tightened the screws as tight as they tighten, which broke the enclosed Allen wrench. I had my own. I used it and tightened as tight as it would go and it still would not support it. It did "work" as I turned it into portrait mode and just let the weight of the monitor pull it down and it rests on the stand. It did well but was a little "tippy". I went to Home Depot and purchased a large clamp and went behind the monitor and clamed it to the desk. This is my experience. I cannot speak to what your experience would be. While it states that it will support a 32" monitor, my experience leaves that in question. Would it support it in normal landscape mode? "Maybe" but, the manufacturer included one of those stands. I didn't try it in that orientation because I didn't need it in that orientation. Your mileage may vary. It is not a "bad" product. I personally think they should market it to max out at 27" instead of 32". Again, this "my experience", your mileage will vary. I can tell you though, it is NOT tall enough to do what you want to do. **Q: Also what happened if you do not have those of 4 holes back of your monitor?** A: Hi, you could buy a VESA adapter to hold the monitor to the mount. **Q: Once I installed the monitor to portrait, how can I rotate it to vertical without un-mounting the monitor?** A: This is very much a manual process on this mount. any vertical pitch, vertical up and down needs to be tightened down with an allen wrench (which is provided). If you are looking to mount in portrait. You would have to unmout the screws and remount vertically. It is solidly built but better for a semi-permenant location vs frequently changed. The only easy adjustment is that once it mounts and can swing left to right easily as that is the only articulated arm that does not have to be tightened down. **Q: has anyone successfully used this w 27" imac?** A: I wouldn't. imacs weigh more than a regular monitor. It's ok as far as monitor stands go but it will slip out of position easily. In all im happy with this stand. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Does the job, satisfied *by D***. on September 28, 2023* Arrived quickly, easy to set up in a few minutes, solid, no issues. Holds my dual 25" monitors just fine. Comes with all tools needed (5mm, 6mm, 7mm Allen keys, one with a Philips-style end for screws, plus spacers for the butterfly bracket, if needed.) The post cable guide also has slots to hold all 3 of those wrenches; so you'll still have them handy if/when you need to make adjustments or take it apart. You might need help when attaching the monitors, so it doesn't fall over. I did it all myself with no issue, however; I just laid out the monitors on the carpet. The brackets simply slide together, tightly; a tiny retainer screw on each provides extra insurance that they won't slide off if, say, being moved across the room or to a different office. (If traveling a distance or by vehicle, I would probably release the monitors from the stand.) I might have preferred the clamp-on style, but my desk is too thick for that option. This is plenty sturdy, however, (unless you have, say, a toddler that wants to hang on one end). But for other reviewers who claimed it wasn't strong enough to hold their monitors, I don't know what they did wrong...? A couple things to mention, and this may be universal across all monitor stands. I'm a bit OCD and I really really like my dual monitors to butt up against each other perfectly. That's annoyingly hard to do, I'm always a few mm off. (Ok, I just had to mess with it, and now the bottom corners are a full cm off). Thinking about getting a couple 4-inch Velcro strips to put on the back and hold them exactly where I want. Also, in order to get them close, the "elbows" of the arms must bend and stick out 2"-3" backwards towards the wall (or in my current case, wood blinds). If you have smaller monitors, it could easily be twice that far.
