Grug: The hardest working father in history. For Grug, there are no weekends, holidays or sick days. Like most dads, Grug is fiercely protective of his family, and his hyper-vigilance is defined by his “fear is good; change is bad” philosophy. But in order to keep his family truly safe, Grug must learn the difference between surviving and living. Ugga: Grug’s mate. She’s every bit as solid and sure as Grug, but over their many years of raising their children together, Ugga has always deferred to her husband’s authority. When she suddenly finds herself in the position of being a cave-wife with no cave, Ugga is forced to make the right decision for her family -- even if it means changing the way they live. Eep: Grug’s rebellious teenage daughter is trying to drag her family kicking and screaming into the future. Her nagging feeling that there might be more to life outside the family cave is confirmed when the Croods embark on a journey of a lifetime. Thunk: Grug’s son is 6-feet, 3-inches tall, 280 pounds, and 9 years old. Thunk wants to be a great hunter like his dad, but Thunk can’t hit the broad side of a mammoth. Sandy: The youngest of the Croods, four-year-old Sandy is as feral and vicious as a baby wildcat. In a dangerous world full of creatures trying to take a bite out of her, Sandy is not afraid to bite back. Guy: A charming teenage boy who makes dazzling discoveries (like fire and shoes), Guy is a catalyst for change. His inventive ideas ultimately expose the Croods to new possibilities... and a new world. Belt: This sloth is the world’s first pet, and Guy’s best friend. Belt can't talk, but his signature sing-song expression of doom – “Da da daaaaaaaa!” -- speaks volumes. Macawnivore: With the body of a small tiger, an over-sized head and the colorization of a Macaw Parrot, the Macawnivore is an imposing creature who towers over the Croods. Crocopup: An unexpected blend of canine and crocodile, his menacing looks and razor sharp teeth mask a friendly demeanor. Thunk makes him his pet, and names him Douglas. Punch Monkey: Fun and charming, until they feel threatened, the Punch Monkeys aren’t easily intimidated and, as their name suggests, pack quite a wallop. Even breakfast is an adventure when you're the last surviving prehistoric family, and the conviction that fear keeps you alive and curiosity will get you killed definitely drives the Crood clan. But Eep (Emma Stone), who's in many ways a typical teenager intent on testing her boundaries and the resolve of her parents (Nicolas Cage and Catherine Keener), yearns for more than hiding out in a dark cave all day. Eep sneaks out of the cave one night and almost gets the whole family killed, but her path crosses with a boy named Guy (Ryan Reynolds), who it seems is destined to change everything for the Crood family. Forced to flee their cave home after it's destroyed, the Croods reluctantly follow Guy on a perilous journey that leads them to discover a whole new world full of breathtaking views, fascinating creatures, and blood-stirring adventure. The animation is lush and gorgeous and the abundance of physical and slapstick humor, especially from Nicolas Cage as Grug and Cloris Leachman as Gran, keeps the plot moving and viewers chuckling throughout the film. What the Crood family's journey eventually reveals is twofold: that focusing on living life and following the light is a viable alternative to hiding in the darkness and that anyone can change. It was funny, very well done, great dialog, beautiful and very creative animals and scenery. Just like the case says it is an "animated Avatar" (which most of that movie is). The animals and flora were so colorful, mixed up designs and imaginative. I think the whole family would love this movie and the only caveat I would mention is that the family is pretty rough with each other, especially at first. The little stuffed animal, Belt, is little and soft and looks just like the character in the movie. I received this movie on the release day - 10/1/13 and I FINALLY got to watch it over 8 months later. Family Fun
Without a doubt this movie has been one of the best dreamwork movies they've ever made! I love all the hilarious humor, loved the animation, loved how they survive by following the light, adored how the light and finding tomorrow was the whole concept of them living their lives without fear because they had something to believe in. I loved all the characters personalities and how going on their journey to find tomorrow/ survive changes their concept of living/life. They beauty of the places they went were phenomenal and I love all the different type of animals and plants there were. This movie has an amazing plot and concept that enlightens me. This movie is just a very heart-felt, Heart-warming and extraordinary movie that all ages can enjoy. This Croods without a doubt is amazing!

Lots of laughs
This is a great movie for the family. Adults will find the puns hilarious. The movie does an excellent job of pushing the idea of changing while looking for new ideas without saying that having some caution is ridiculous. In fact, it’s fairly clear that it encourages caution in certain circumstances, and it doesn’t ridicule or vilify people who do air more on the cautious side of things. It simply pushes the importance of continuing to take chances for a better tomorrow.

Drôle et compréhensible
Dessin animé sur une famille pendant la Préhistoire. Drôle, décalé, plaît beaucoup à ma fille de 3 ans et demi et son frère de 5 ans et demi. Le père ne veut pas quitter sa caverne alors que sa fille ne songe qu'à la vie au grand air et va entraîner sa famille dans un périple pour la sauver. Une aventure divertissante!

What a joy! We loved it!
We buy 3D movies, but aren't very discriminating as we tend to buy them because they are 3D rather than whether we would normally purchase based upon a review, personal taste etc. The Croods was a purchase that didn't really figure on our 'must have list' but it was reasonably priced so we thought we'd give it a try. Well, I have to say that the movie was a total delight! From the start to the end it amused and absorbed us with its slick animation and likeable characters. The 3D was very nicely used... not too gimicky but very obvious in places. The various scenery creations were frankly superb, colourful and wide-ranging. Visually I think this movie is one of the best 3D films we have watched. The soundtrack was also nicely handled with pleasant music and well recorded voices etc. The characters also very quickly become quite surprisingly real, a trifle corny maybe, but a delight. There's an underlying message in the story that gives it some weight. I think it could appeal to children and adults — with both getting a lot of fun out of the antics on screen. The animation is smooth and wonderfully drawn (obviously created on computers rather than actually drawn!) and in the fast-paced sections the animation is some of the best I have seen. I can't understand why this movie hasn't received more attention and it's definitely one of our favourite 3D movies. I haven't written many reviews about movies, but I did feel compelled to jot down my thoughts about "The Croods". It's a jolly good example of this type of genre (i.e. modern animated 3D).

Adventurous & DTS-HD MA 7.1 is AWESOME (Includes Hindi 5.1 Audio and Subs)
Beautiful on so many levels !!!! It might not be the best film out there, but it certainly is a great one which has its own comedic and adventurous moments, a movie for the whole family out there and to all those who prefer watching it in 3-D, the effects are seriously good in this film and your choice would be a valid one. All in all, no matter what age you may be, "The Croods" might just bring back a smile or a few memories of those old childhood fantasies where anything was possible. loved the movie
loved the movie ... very good animation and very good 3D effect if u have 3D Tv which can convert 2D to 3D & more than 400Hz motion @ 1080p the box is very good and sturdy .
