Days of Wonder - Memoir '44: Expansion - Tigers in The Snow Battle Map- Board Game

My 16 yo grandson loves these main games and the expansion sets.

I absolutely and positively LOVE Memoir '44 and all of its expansions -- I am a hardcore fan and advocate of the Eastern Front and this particular expansion, namely WINTER WARS. This particular expansion comes loaded with goods, but if I could only have one of them, it would be the BREAKTHROUGH CARD DECK included here. This is what I call the Third Generation Command deck for MEMOIR '44. Since the BREAKTHROUGH maps are quite larger than standard maps, the ON THE MOVE orders were added to most section cards in the game. This allows for combat on one section and movement only in other sections. This alone provides a great simulation of what actually occurs in the battlefield and keeps the game feeling more fun and real. WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET: There are two (2) decks of cards included in the Winter Wars expansion (BREAKTHROUGH DECK, WINTER WARS COMBAT DECK), four (4) heaps of DOUBLE SIDED WINTER TILES, and a ton of "chits and badges" ADD A MEGATON OF VALUE: a) WINTER COMBAT CARD DECK (special rules for winter conflict) b) BREAKTHROUGH CARD DECK (My favourite Memoir '44 deck, tip: you can even use this deck with standard scenarios) c) HEAPS OF DOUBLE SIDED TILES d) BADGES, CHITS AND MARKERS (mines, medals, bunkers, etc) The complexity and depth added via this expansion is priceless, particularly the BREAKTHROUGH DECK which essentially transforms MEMOIR '44 into a superb WWII game. This is by far, my favourite board game of all time. Get this WINTER WARS expansion for MEMOIR '44 TODAY! TIPS: 1) Get the BREAKTHROUGH KIT (maps) expansion so that you can play the four included super-sized scenarios. 2) Get the EASTERN FRONT expansion (an absolute must-have if you don't already own it) 3) Get the SPECIAL OPERATIONS expansion packs which bring the game to a new level.

Great board game with realistic scenarios. We are about to play the scenarios for the second time.

This is one of my favorite memoir 44 expansions. The tiger tanks add a cool twist to a regular scenario. There is one scenario that has a a lot of Allie tanks against 3 or 5 tiger tanks. You would think it would be lopsided but it’s not, it takes a grenade to hit it but you have roll another grenade to destroy it, which is not easy. Comes with 6 tiger tanks and 7 regular scenarios plus an overlord scenario.

Memoir44 has created recreations of WWII battles. These are short requiring 1-1,5 hours. Because dice and cards are involved they are a combination of skill and luck. Games are won based on points achieved and that means that they do not take too much time. Great fun. Challenging. A look at important history.

A strong expansion to M44 which adds the breakthrough command deck, winter combat cards, a bunch of new winter tiles (including hills, which were absent in Eastern Front), and some new rules for support weapons. The breakthrough command deck replaces the standard command deck for breakthrough maps, and is filled with cards that activate more units than the standard deck. Winter command cards are tactical additions that generals can play to add more of a winter flavor to their games (with things like camouflage, out of ammo, and reposition effects). Also in the rulebook are 10 scenarios- 6 of them focus on winter battles during the Ardennes offensive and they use standard sized winter maps. The other four of them are for breakthrough scenarios. You'll want to own both the Eastern Front expansion and the winter/desert map before you buy this. You'll probably also need the Breakthrough Expansion and the Terrain Pack if you want to take advantage of the breakthrough scenarios.

This prevents the player from having to set up all the hex tiles on the board as they are pre-printed. Worthy edition to the memoir 44 collection.

Excellent addition to a Memoir 44 collection. This expansion opens up the Pacific theater for your gaming enjoyment. The inclusion of several new terrain tiles including beaches, caves, mountains and rice paddies provide some excellent options for setting up a field of play. Add to this the Japanese and Marine rules and the new units including warships, flame thrower tanks and mobile artillery and you have the ability to create hundreds of scenarios. If you have any interest in the Pacific theater or just want to give your Memoir 44 games a different look and feel then I highly recommend this expansion.

Mine is all painted and ready to add to my Memoir 44 collection. The tanks were a joy to paint, and the miniatures matched up nicely with a bare minimum of modelling and brush work. The rules look balanced and interesting. I`m sure the Pacific Theatre expansion will add a whole new dimension to my games. I am currently playing through (and thoroughly enjoying) playing through the host of various scenarios from my base Memoir 44 boxed set... which allows me to paint the pieces in each expansion (I bought them all, same time from Amazon) without interrupting play at all. When I`ve finally painted everything for the add on sets, I`ll finally take the plunge and pant the base game pieces. Meanwhile I`m plodding away happily. The Pacific Theatre set is highly attractive, and the rules look fascinating. Can`t wait to sink my teeth into them.

Das ist auf jeden Fall eine gelungene Erweiterung zum Grundspiel Memoir 44. Jeder der sich für den pazifischen Schauplatz interessiert hat hier eine wirklich nette Möglichkeit das Spiel deutlich aufzuwerten. Die neuen Regeln für Marines und Japaner sind so aufgebaut, dass das Spiel sich den Gegebenheiten gut anpasst. Kleiner Wermutstropfen bei meiner Erweiterung: Die Figuren hatten sehr viele Plastiküberstände an den Kanten.

Came in good condition. Close to 3X the price it was originally hence 4 stars (as its basically just some extra cards and tokens), but this is hard to find so If you want it go for it.
