Write Your Own Novel Professional Version 2 (PC)

I've now been using "Write Your Own Novel" for less than two months and in that time have written over 80,000 words of a new novel.I really like the organisational aspects: being able to write files on characters, notes on the location of the scenes, and the event function. The fact that you can enter a start and finish time for each major action helps to keep tabs on events in real-time, remembering what day of the week we are at in the novel's timescale, etc.This novel uses a lot of carefully researched facts and those facts are major motors in the dramatic development of the plot. Having separate compartments for different aspects made it so much easier to write.As soon as the organisational aspects of writing were taken over by the software, my creative mind felt free to race along without hindrance. I have never been able to write so fast before.I only wish I could have had this software years ago when I wrote my first novel, an incredibly detailed story about a real character. This software would have made it so much easier.The only reason I have not given 5 stars is that one day when I was racing along writing, 2,000 words suddenly disappeared and I still don't know why, despite having contacted the helpline.So, great software but remember to save every 20 lines or so, as it seems quite easy to press the wrong button and lose work.

Could not fault the product it did exactly what it claimed. It has a good layout and was easy to use. There was prompts on the software on how to use and was simple to understand.

I used it until I discovered yWriter5 - which is brilliant and free.

Makes writing a story a breeze

well worth the money

This seems to be a program written in java, it seems to constantly installing itself.I thought V2 would have fixed all the bugs in V1.This is very disappointing :(

Learning to write well. Story created slowly got to chapter 5.

This is a good product for fiction and non-fiction writers but it doesn't really cater for sci-fi writers especially those who deal with time travel. I am writing this as a personal point of view as I fall into the catagory of a Sci-Fi/Fantasy writer.The way the programme deals with the birth and death dates in the characters section is good for everyday and even historial use but it would have been better if it didn't automatically generate the age but took the input and went from there. There are some nice touches such as the ability to assign pictures as icons to the character.There isn't a section for objects which can be a vital part of the narrative, especially if they are designed and built in story and around which the story can revolve.The event generator can be a little purile in it's responses and it still includes characters that are dead and does not take into account the date the story is set. For example an event generated might include someone making an important telephone call. This is fine unless the story is set before telephones were invented. It is little things like this that spoil and otherwise good product from my perspective.The story readability seems to be a little of whack too and the reading scale results come nowhere close to those produced by word or wordperfect, which one still has to use for grammer checking.If there are a lot of important events and places the tree system can become very hard to navigate.Overall for the budding writer it is a very good product but it seems to be aimed at the american market. A european version would be nice.
