Adult Piano Course, Bk 1 (John W. Schaum Adult Piano Course, Bk 1)

Exactly the same book I used when I took a few lessons (under duress from parents) at age 15. I am now 72 and am so glad to get the same books. I am teaching myself this time and find book perfect for this. I never got past the first few pages as a 15 yr. old, but now, in two weeks, can play with both hands and am nearly ready to start book 2. . I highly recommend these as starter books!

My piano teacher told me to get it to aid my note reading, it's easy to understand and so far im liking it.

I learned using the Schaum method as part of my education on piano, so I'm a little jaded in favour of their approach.This is for adults and older adolescents who might wince at the use of the "normal" books, which assume children are the target audience. Fewer pictures and more "down to business" methods are used, so making this a decent starting place for people to begin.I use it, along with other materials, in teaching people to play the piano. No singular series can possibly "do it all". A good teacher has the depth of material (recommendations) to mix it up and keep it moving forward for the student, whether young teen or adult. This is part of that catalogue.

This book does what it supposed to. But you may not recognize the songs you play, because they are missing a lot of the musical notation that make them what you expect. Maybe it will get better by the time I’m atvthe last song.

I found this difficult to follow. I borrowed my granddaughters Bastien Piano Basic Piano Book Level 1 and found that to be much more helpful. I am now on the Bastien Piano Basic Book Level 2 and moving along nicely.

My daughter's music teacher suggested this book and my daughter likes it very much.I definetly recommended this book for beginners

Really good and helpful beginner’s piano book especially for adults

Easy for absolute beginners

Good beginner book.

I’ve used this for a couple of months with a teacher to learn piano for the first time. It does fly ahead with technique and knowledge, so if you have never played any instrument st all before, start with an easier one perhaps. With that said, it’s provided a challenge which is what I needed.

This is a good insight for the beginner. Until looking at this I had no idea how to use both hands on the keyboard. However It may benefit from a review or update in the cover design.
