Swinging door: game changer. You don’t know what you are missing!
This tent is awesome. I’ve been camping every summer for pretty much all of my 54 years of life! As a kid myself, with my own kids, family, friends, solo… and out of maybe 20 tents ive had my whole life, this tent is The Best Tent Ever for one reason (actually there are a few more reasons I’ll also add below): IT HAS A SWINGING DOOR You might be thinking “meh. What’s the big deal. My tent zips. I’m good.” Well, I guess you’ve never been trying to leave the campsite to head down to the lake and then you realize your sun glasses are still in the tent, so you go and unzip the tent and go in and come out and zip it up. And then your kid says “wait, where’s my hat”. In the tent. So you unzip it. Get the hat. Zip it up…. Repeat. Repeat. Trust me, it’s better than sliced bread!!! Setting up the door is so easy and the designers thought of everything to make it quick and easy and simple and effective. You basically just bend a thin tent pole around the “curved part” of a D for one part of the door and then there’s a short pole to the be the “back of the D”. That’s it. Now the door swings open and because the front wall is slightly sloped, the door will close itself behind you! Alternatively if you want to keep it open you can, it kind of “sticks” itself under the edge of the fly to prop it open. But here’s why else it’s great: Oh, and, I bought it in summer 2020. And I camped a ton during the pandemic. So it’s been used for maybe a total of 90 nights camping. At least. It has a “lighting system”. And yeah I know: why do I need that? It’s easy enough to use a headlamp. I agree. I love headlamps! In fact I use one to set up this tent all the time and it’s great! But there’s a light switch ON THE WALL. Guess what that means? You always know where the switch is. See what I mean? Seasoned campers will realize… “ooooohhhhhhh…. Right…. No more fumbling around.” Yeah. I know. Right? So you need 4 D batteries and they last multiple trips each summer and last multiple years. I use the overhead light on bright when getting ready for bed. Or on “dim” as it gets closer to bed time. And then in the middle of the night if I get up to use the bathroom I turn on the amber/red light and no more trying to find your tent as you come back to camp! And since I also use the Ds in the air mattress pump, it’s actually nice to know I have a second set of batteries to back up each. Lastly, in the photos above you might wonder why it looks like there’s a tent inside a tent. Yeah. That’s my awesome cold weather camping solution! It’s a 2-3 person backpacking tent inside the larger Coleman sun dome! The double insulation against freezing temps (I think it was in the high 20’s at night) extended Sierra camping into the first week of October! So this tent is the larger one that fit the other tent inside. How big is it? Is it really tall enough to stand? Yes. I’m 5’8” and I can stand and get dressed just fine and I’ve had people over 6’ tall also comfortable standing in the center. I easily fit a queen mattress off center so I have more open space at the entry. (And the person on the other side of the bed has a door, too, so night time potty trips don’t have to wake everyone. But the back door is a regular door. Zipper. So sad. How old fashioned! :) But it has good floor space and since the walls are pretty vertical, there’s lots of room. I can also fit a potty bucket, a chair, one of the camping storage boxes I pack with as a nightstand, and two dog beds! If you had to fit two queens, they would fit side to side but probably not much room around that. Alternatively, sometimes I camp with just a cot and a single sized air mattress as a pad on the cot, and that gives even more room inside! And my dog who loves to be in a kennel sleeps under my cot! But what about weather: It has rained on me. And rained a lot. Lightning. Hail. Snow. All of it. And I thought surely I would get some leaks. Nope. The fly is awesome as is, but if you use the guy wires to allow for more air circulation, and to pull the fly away from the walls so it extends a little, it is the best ventilated tent I’ve ever had! No buildup of moisture! Sometimes I tie the guy lines to trees or shrubbery or sometimes do the whole stake it down thing… which reminds me… NO you don’t have to stake the tent down in order for it to be stable. If it was storming at all of course you’d want to stake it everywhere but sometimes you get lazy and just want to set it up quickly. It works just fine. But the door. Get this tent for the door. It has some light Velcro that “latches it” when you close it and at night or whenever you want (like if you need to put the dogs in the tent for a minute…), and there’s a grab handle of webbing to open it. The zipper is super cool in that it has guides so it moves the fabric out from in front of the zipper. THIS TENT HAS NEVER EVER GOTTEN CAUGHT IN ITS ZIPPER. Again, seasoned camper know: game changer. Oh and a bonus awesome thing: the windows “roll up” as you unzip them. It’s hard to explain but it involves a simple technology similar to a “slap bracelet” (or a single slat of a mini blind). No more window flaps hanging all over getting in the way…. It’s as if someone at Coleman actually went camping once and was like “You know what would be awesome. If a tent could….” And then they made a tent that solved every tent problem ever. Except it does take a minute to set up. Not the easiest. But no way the most complicate tent to set up. This one is pretty fast to do by myself. I’ve never timed it. But it doesn’t seem to take more than about 8-10 mins. It has fast clips for most of the pole length with just about 2” of “stuffing the pole in the sleeve” right at the apex.

Best tent ever
I finally can say that I risked spending a few rainy days and nights in this beauty and voila! --No wetness at all inside. The tent held up perfectly. I knew it was going to rain so for once I tied down most of the stakes on the fly. (I usually only stake down a couple of them.) Besides all the great features of the hinged D-door, the lighting system, the nice head-room as well as the standard (familiar) style of set-up, I am assured of a dry experience. The angle of the fly above the windows is just right for letting in air but not rain. And even if it were raining "sideways" you can always roll-up enough of the window to stop it. BTW, for those of you wondering how the windows roll up .... do you remember those "slap" wrist bands from years ago? That's how these windows roll up -- you insert one of them into a sleeve running up and down the center of each window, and with the pressure from the zippers on each side, the window naturally comes up and down. I don't bother to remove them when taking the tent down. This tent is a gem for the money and I do not intent to replace it. One pole split a bit - I scotch-taped it and it is just fine. I use a ground tarp under it, have never used seam-sealer on it, and love it - even in the rain.

Best buy, definitely recommend!
Love this tent, we are so happy with this purchase. Great value for an excellent tent. We applied no extra water/weather proofing to the tent and took it camping in upper peninsula Michigan. We experienced a torrential thunderstorm on the first night and aside from very very small amounts of dripping that ended up in little puddles that we were able to clean up with a couple pieces of paper towel the next morning, the tent held up phenomenally! We were extremely impressed. The storm was so crazy, we noticed campers pack up and leave during the storm. We've also taken it to camping music fests and felt like we had a luxury tent. We absolutely love the lighting and the light options (mood lighting!), and the hinge door! Ventilation is excellent-- almost too good. The only qualm I might have is that there's not a great way to insulate if you're cold as it is a very openly aired out tent. But this makes it so that it is pretty cool during the daytime in the summer as well, which is a huge plus.

Great tent with lots of nice features
This is a very nice tent with some great features. It was very easy to set up. Takes about 5 minutes after the first time. The stiff front door is awesome. We love not having to zip it constantly. The interior light is great. It lights up the tent enough to read. The floor is heavy duty and should last for many years. We had a short heavy shower of maybe 1/2 of rain and no leaks, no sure how it would handle a downpour, hopefully we will never find out. So why only 4 stars, We were given a wrong door pole, you are supposed to get 1 long and 1 short, we got 2 longs. The door still worked but it would have been nice to get the right parts. The stakes are way to small for this tent, I had to buy bigger stakes for it. The other bad thing is the bag it comes in is way to small. I broke the zipper trying to get the tent back into it. I ended up buying a large duffle for the tent. Overall this is a great tent, just beware you will have to spend a bit more money for accessories unless you have a bigger bag and better stakes lying around.

There's nothing like the great outdoors
Really nice tents! We have a large group that goes camping around six times a year and it was time for new tents. We settled on this model. They went up quick and are very sturdy. The one thing that I liked the most is the door. There are two fiberglass rods that are used to create an actual door; one for the hinge - one for the door frame. We always had an issue with the kids leaving the tents unzipped letting the bugs and creatures in. Now these doors make it easy and pretty much shut on their own. There's a few pieces of velcro to hold it shut in minor wind or you can completely zip it shut if needed. The LED light inside is nice and does a great job illuminating the entire tent. It has a nightlight setting - but I think it's still too bright. The only thing I don't like about tents like this are the cheap metal stakes that they come with. Do yourself a favor and get around a dozen quality stakes to secure it down and tie down the fly.

Great tent for small family or two-3 with lots of gear!
I love the Coleman hinged door feature! I don’t know why all tents don’t have this! We have about 10 tents of varying sizes and brands. Tiny tents for backpacking, Coleman WeatherMaster for family camping that holds 4 large cots and tons of gear, eureka because my husband considers them THE tent for Boy Scout camping, and more. My husband and I were looking for a tent we could stand up in. One that we could step inside the door (not crawl into). A tent that could hold two large cots and lots of gear when we camp for a week but was light enough to carry in and out of camp (not light enough for backpacking, but under 20 lbs). We needed something that could withstand the heavy rains of southeast, gulf of Texas. We wanted a reasonable priced tent…my husband had his eye on a 6 person Eureka but they were about $600, plus all the custom add ons, I wanted a better deal. We were looking for our Goldilocks tent - just right! Classified as a 6 person tent, this Coleman tent could sleep 7 sardine style. Large dome - I think 6 feet tall in the center. Easy to set up and take down. The two of us can do it in about 15 minutes including all the stakes and tie downs. It was windy and rainy the first night we used it, and inside the tent stayed dry! Overall this tent checks every box and then some. Plus that hinged door. Seriously genius. Our WeatherMaster had a hinged door. I love not having to unzip and zip and unzip and zip all the time. Door stays closed all the time - no bugs or creepy crawlies get in…but it’s like a house door, just open and close thanks to the great design! Another win for Coleman. This is our go to tent for my husband and I when we go with our Boy Scout troop for the weekend or even for a full week. Not too big, but definitely big enough! Love it!

Leaks water! Light is too fragile!
The biggest unforgivable issue- WATER LEAKS most all the way around where the bottom of the tent meets the tent sides. Woke up with wet pillow and belongings. Puddles of water! Now I have to spend more money, time, energy trying to figure out if I can seal the seams better than the manufacturers lame attempt. I was going to use this tent right away but my trip got cancelled. I wish I would have returned the tent at that time while I was still within the return window but I had to much faith in the Coleman brand. 👎🏻 Took the tent out 7 months after purchase to use it brand new out of box. Was a bit frustrating to try find and find the gussets that the directions refer to in order to make the rain fly rigid enough to open/close the framed door. Better instructions/labeling on the gussets location would be helpful. Be aware that you have no privacy without the rain fly on. With rain fly on it became really stuffy especially with water leaking in you can tell this in the pictures but it's not something that occured to me till I used it. The interior light attaches VERY delicately. In fact it broke the first time I put it on even after reading the directions to be gentle! Also the directions for the interior light are not attached to the bag so as all directions not attached, it disappears. This is unfortunate because I'll have to remember how breakable it is and to be super careful so the cheap plastic doesnt crumble and break off as I attach it though I'm sure its inevitable. This has to be removed and re attached everytime so high likelihood that it breaks over time and I'm guessing that a lot of customers are unhappy left with a light they can no longer attach/use. Overall, super disappointing. This is not the Coleman quality I grew up respecting.

Great fair and warm weather tent
Great fair and warm weather tent. Rain....NOT GOOD AT ALL. The blue bottom portion of the tent below the Rain Fly covering becomes soaked and water penetrates through and into the interior portion of the tent. If your going to being using this tent in any moisture environment, to include just a heavy morning dew, be prepared for at the very minumum for the interior walls to be damp and the tent to then need to be air dryed. I've even experienced this after further treating the material with a tent rain repellant. Don't get me wrong, it's a great tent for nice weather. It's very good for family or cub scout type camping due to features such as the door and LED light with switch, Other campers are envious of the Coleman door and it will make your tent the kids play tent of a group camp setting do the the ease of entry and exit. I am able to get two Coleman camp cots inside, one to either side of the hinged door, plus a queen and single air mattress across the back side of the tent on the zippered non-hinged tent fly side at the base of the cots (the single air mattress has a small bend in it by the cot, but its sort of pillowish). With that, I and my wife get some cot comfort and my 3 kids, 8 -10 yrs old. can fit with room on the air mattresses. Store your gear under the cots, and there is space between the cots to use for tent life. Five is the MAX you want in this tent. Like every tent ever made, the number of people they claim can sleep in it is not reasonable, unless your looking for a night time hug fest. Not sure about ya'll, but my kids KICK. So with all that said, don't use it in wet weather, you've been warned.
