Smooth paper, perfect for the super fine ballpoint I like to use but thick enough to take light watercolor washes if required. All the pages open flat, and it's well made too, it feels like it will survive bumping around in a bag. I used moleskine before..lovely but expensive and you feel like you have to be perfect using them. With this pad I don't mind doing daft things and wasting paper, or gluing things in. It's a really lovely little book, and the square 12x12 size is a refreshing change too. I will be getting more! They work well on this paper. **Q: dose this work well with alcohol markers?** A: Not really appropriate for alcohol markers. They will heavily bleed throug. **Q: Is this good for sketching with pencil?** A: Yes! It works great for dry media - the paper is nice and smooth.
