Really disappointed with these sometime after installing these, all of the colours are wrong and let’s say you pick white every metre you get 4 or 5 different colours which has now ruined the effect so much so I’m thinking of removing these which will then cause issues as the whole room will require redecorating.. Very disappointed with these after a relatively short period of time. ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— Really really happy with these; so easy to install albeit a little tricky around the slopped ceiling but got there in the end. Came with all the bits required to do the install including splice kits whcih were never used as managed to get round it, only one slight issue in that the cut was mm off the run when running the other way, this is apparent in the video but it's not that bad and could've run over the top until the next cutting point but didn't. The app that the manufacturer says to use with this is really bad and does not work although using the manually buttons on Govee and the remote control it's fine; even though the app says it must be MP3 tunes and not Spotify or Apple Music i've got loads of music which was bought from iTunes yet that didn't work either which it said it would! All in all really happy with this purchase and the room looks immense when lit up..

I decided to wait a month or so after installing the lights before writing this review so that the review is consistent with experience. Installation was simple and straight forward. The lights are fitted around the room at ceiling level and give off a nice glow when powered on. The LED lights appear to be very good and I can't fault the brightness or colour output. Although, when powered down, there still remains a faint blue glow all around, so some power is still being emitted from the unit. The main concern of this unit, and may not affect you if you only plan on using the remote (details later), is the app. The app connects via Bluetooth, unlike other sets I have set up around the house that use WiFi connection, this impacts the battery life on the controller device greatly. I use one tablet to house the apps for my numerous LED lights around the house. The WiFi lights have no issue with connection, but this app drops its connection regularly, and this, needs to be brought back into range before the app is usable again. Personally, I find the app VERY limited in functionality. I normally set up timers for my lights to turn on and off. However, with this app, you only get three configuration allowances. I like to set a daily on/off time that is different at the weekends to week days. This means I can set one on and an off for, say weekdays, but then can only set an on or an off for the weekends requiring further input to complete a 'sequence'. Overall, the app (illumi home) is very sluggish at responding to user input and lags way behind other apps (such as Magic Home Pro which is far more configurable and responsive). However, the input sensing options respond to visual/auditory input well, so I have to give it a plus for that. On the other hand, if the app is of no use to you and you only want to use the lights via remote control, then I can't fault the kit. The remote is one of the best I have in my home set up. If you find that the default colours on the remote do not match with what you are hoping for, then you can manually alter the hue, to your desired colour by increasing/decreasing the Red, Blue and Green Up/Down keys on the remote.

These are a great set of lights (I don't often give out a 5 star review and this one has been updated after an issue with Bluetooth, more on that later), the cord is a reasonable length (just over half a meter I'd guess) and they were easy to setup, pretty much plug and play (I'm terrible at DIY and I had no problems). I bought this set because they have a module between the power supply and the LED strip which gives you basic functions but also allows you to easily switch the lights on and off. I specifically wanted this as it's easy to use even in the dark as the buttons are contoured and easy to feel. While the remote has lots of buttons and options the app actually gives you much finer control over things like brightness and colours. The app also lets you set timers for the lights to come on and off, the only slight negative is that you can't set brightness or colour with the timer, it just turns on at the previous setting. Overall I'd say it's better to have the lights retain their last setting though so not too bothered but if the owners of the app wish to make improvements I'd put that at the top of the list. I had issues with the Bluetooth connectivity and emailed the company using the address on the side of the box. Even though it was a weekend I got a quick reply, was asked to test a couple of things and then they sent out a replacement which got to me in a couple of days, very impressed at the turnaround and even emails were answered within a few hours. They also come with a nice set of connectors and sticky pads to attach if needed. So far I haven't needed the sticky pads as they have attached very well to the wall (painted and wallpapered). In fact I ended up using them for another set of lights I'd got (different manufacturer) which only stuck on for a day and then came lose. Overall they are a great set of lights and most important of all the other half likes them.

I bought this exact Mexllex product four years ago and was extremely satisfied. The LEDs were bright, easy to install, and could be controlled via remote, app, or physical buttons. It was a fantastic product. Fast forward to today: after moving into a new house, it was a no-brainer to order the same ones again. I even went back to my old orders to make sure I got the exact same product and purchased 80 meters of what I thought was a trusted option. BIG MISTAKE. First, from the product page I noticed right away that the LED controller has been changed. Previously it was a slick black panel that could be attached to my furniture. It didn't look to bad and had physical buttons so I could turn the lights on/off and change modes by clicking them in case I couldn't find the remote. Now it has been swapped out for an ugly white plastic box without any buttons. And because this box has to be in the line of sight for the remote it will be in a visible place at all times. Annoying, but I figured I could live with it, so I ordered it anyway since the rest seemed to be the same. Then the lights arrived. AND WOW - WHAT AN ABSOLUTE JOKE! The LED strip is completely different from what I ordered before, and it’s a MASSIVE DOWNGRADE. The LEDs are half the size and spaced ridiculously far apart, making the light dim and uneven. I’ve attached a photo to compare the old and new versions, and it speaks for itself: this isn’t just bad; it’s unusable. Forget lighting up a room—this won’t even light up a shelf. On top of that, the cut-off points are spaced 50(!!!) cm apart. If your furniture or setup doesn’t perfectly align with that, tough luck. Good luck making it fit neatly. To make matters worse, the box now comes stripped down, with no connectors or extension cables—items that were included with the original version. So if you want to cut and reconnect the strip to suit your space, you’ll need to find the right accessories and shell out extra cash for them. And the final insult? The first product photo STILL shows the old, high-quality strip, even though they’re shipping this downgraded version. This is blatant false advertising. Refunding it immediately. DO NOT buy this product.

The colors are vivid, and the lights are evenly distributed, with no dim spots. They’ve been running for several hours each day, and so far, I haven't noticed any issues with flickering or fading. The build feels durable, and I’m confident they’ll last a long time. Overall Experience: These LED strips have taken my gaming and living room to the next level. The ambiance they create is both immersive and aesthetically pleasing. Whether I'm hosting friends or just relaxing after a long day, the Mexllex LED strips add that extra flair that makes the room feel special. If you're looking to upgrade your space with some stylish and reliable LED lighting, I highly recommend giving Mexllex a try. They've certainly earned a permanent spot in my setup!

Take this review as an honest review from someone who is passionate about lights and led systems: The Mexllex LED Strip Lights (I got the 30m model for £12.74) delivers on brightness, and the light quality is genuinely impressive for the price even as someone who regularly purchases led gadgets and stuff from top contenders like Philips and others. The LEDs are vibrant, with great color options that can easily set the mood for any room. When it comes to illumination,—they're bright & vivid. Moreover I got all the necessary items for the connection unlike others who have bought this and have not received some parts. Unfortunately, that’s where the good things end. The included plastic remote feels incredibly cheap like really cheap, in fact it would have benefitted from having no remote as the remote just absolutely sucks, taking the overall impression of the product down. The remote barely works, and if it does you have to bring it so close to the antenna device like 20 cm, press 5 times minimum or hold it for 5 secs and then the remote then plays a game of whether it wants to work or not. Please put some money into building the remote, this is not how it's done. The app experience is even worse. I have to be honest here, their idea of the led's playing to the music, creating your own preset for DIY led arrangement and more is all great but the execution on the app is straight up awful. The app is poorly optimised sometimes to the point of being unusable both on Android and iOS, lags constantly, and drains your phone's battery thanks to its reliance on Bluetooth, usually led strips for the same price have Wifi. The app was definitely a quick work with not much effort or care put into it which is concerning when that is one of the main ways your consumers will use your product, also explains the poor ratings on the Play store. Connectivity is a nightmare, with frequent disconnections and unresponsive controls. Setting up or tweakig the lights can take far longer than it should. Conclusion : If you are strictly trying to stay under £13 budget, then this is as good as it gets, pretty much good lighting system, you've just got to bear with slow remote and app. But if you are willing to shell out a bit more and on the fence between saving money, please spend a bit more and actually get a better one, will make your life a whole less frustrating trying to fiddle with the remote and app.
