Guitar for Kids: A Beginner's Guide Paperback – October 5, 2014

My daughter really wants to learn to play guitar. I hope she stays as motivated as when she first opened the book to meet Barry!

Very pleased. My 6 year old daughter is starting classes in August. This book is keeping her interested and will provide a great head start getting acquainted with her instrument and basic chords in a fun way.

More involved than I anticipated. Not appealing to seven year old.

I found this a great aid for teaching grandkids to play guitar, I've found teaching kids guitar difficult, it's hard to stay on their level. This book worked great for two of the kids,age 5 and 6.

Christmas gift for a child just beginning lessons on guitar...has all thebasics and easily understood...

Perfect for my 4yo but she can't read and I'd already taught the stuff in the book so what do you do with that .

The back of the book and description says “ packed with colourful illustrations...” there is no colour inside the book it is all black and white, like the pages have been photocopied. Awful book, misleading description and will be returning.

Since I haven't read any other guitar for kids books, I don't have anything to compare it with, but as an adult I found the text simple enough to follow.The book begins by explaining the basics including how to tune the guitar, and then devotes the rest of its time demonstating how to play various chords. It doesn't go as far as playing a piece of music; the reader is left to piece together chords for himself.I didn't feel there was very much in the text to keep kids interested but that said, any self-motivated child (or adult) should be able to follow along and learn his/her way round the guitar.
