FidoRido Dog Car Seat, Black/Tan Bones, Booster Seat for Large Dogs

I needed a car solution for my dog. I used to have a special seatbelt for him but he would still squirm around the car and it was very distracting. A backseat hammock didn’t work either because he would still move around the car. He really wanted to see out of the windows because he is short and couldn’t see. FidoRido gave him the perfect boost he needed. It’s very secure with two tethers and I just clip them to his regular harness. He loves sitting in it and loves car rides now. This booster seat has calmed him down in the car and eased his anxiety. I can now drive peacefully with him without distraction. I can also roll my windows down without worrying about him jumping out. Only takes seconds to take out and put in so human passengers can ride. My dog is a beagle basset mix so he is short and long and it’s a great size for him. He’s around 28 pounds. Very happy with the quality and worth every penny. Keeps him safe and secure.

Driving around my high-strung little Italian Greyhound, who hates car rides and warbles, whines, barks and tries to jump to the front seat even when strapped in, has always been a torture and an excercise in patience. I've tried crating him, using a dog seat belt, playing calming doggie music -- all to no avail. The FidoRido performed better than I expected. It was well constructed and sturdy. It is easy to secure in the back seat of your car, is cushy and supportive, and boosts the dog up enough to see out the window. It comes with a harness that is very easy to put on and has 2 rings on each side. There are also 2 straps on each side of the FidoRido seat, which when hooked into the harness, keep your dog in the middle of the seat. The length of the straps can also be adjusted for dogs with longer legs or to allow more leeway. The only thing I would suggest is that if your car seat angle causes the FidoRido to angle back, that you place a rolled up towel underneath it in such a way that it makes the FidoRido level. The first time I tried FidoRido, there was a noticeable difference in my dog's behavior. He didn't whine or bark (although he let out some warbles), he didn't try to get off the thing, and he even lied down for part of the ride. I'm hoping that it gets better with each successive use. Perhaps we can actually take the foregone weekend car trips with doggie now.

I love this dog carrier. It is solidly made and very comfy for my dog, a 12 pound havanese. It leashes the dog in from 2 sides keeping her from falling out to either side. They provide a harness with a ring on each side. However, I find I can use my dog’s regular harness which is better since it is more substantially made and I don’t have to swap harnesses around when I take her out of the car. The cover works well and easy to remove for washing. I recommend buying a second spare cover. My dog occasionally gets carsick and it’s nice to have a ready spare.

This is a great idea! It's probably worth $40. It's just a plastic bin with slots for the seatbelt, and a piece of foam with a fitted cover (with foam around the top of the bin). It's soft for the dog. I hope it lasts. My small dog (9 pounds and a shorty) can't see out of the window, which is one of the reasons I bought it. It's not high enough. The best part about it is that it secures with the seatbelt. That's an important difference between this seat and many others on the market.

After watching some videos of crash tests of other dog car seats, I was horrified. So many did not work at all, and let the dog go flying like a missile. We also wanted seats where the dogs (shih tzu and chiweenie) look out the window of our Highland or Traverse. These do that. They are very easy to install - much easier than the 2 other we tried. One of the ones we tried gets the highest rating on a dog car seat testing site. It probably is the safest, but it was a pain to get the dogs into. The FidoRido has not been crash tested, but it seems that it would do a good job. We hope we never have to find out. But, we have peace of mind now, better than we used to have. Especially since the chiweenie always insisted on driving (wanting to sit in my lap). The cover is easy to take off and launder. The construction is top notch. The little bag in front is perfect for the leashes. I don't thing you can go wrong with this seat. And it is easy to install and remove the seat.

Let me count the ways! 1. You are spacious - huge! - and high enough to let my 15-lb poodle mix see out all the windows. 2. You can be securely attached to the seat with the lap and shoulder belts. 3. Custom-fitted harness included! Side straps on booster bed/seat securely attach to sides of harness, but can be left loose enough to allow doggy to turn sideways or lay down for a nap. 4. You look so good in my black leather car interior with your soft, black, furry cover and red harness (my choices - selection of colors available to match any car interior!) and plain, simple design - no kitschy, cheap-looking, pastel plaids, gingham, flowers, etc. 5. You give me peace of mind, because my dog can now ride safely and comfortably in the car, NOT in my lap 6. You cost a lot (ouch!) but my research did not turn up anything comparable in terms of security, comfort for my dog, and attractiveness. 7. Your customer service people are great!

THE HARNESS IS MADE CUSTOM TO FIT YOUR DOG PERFECTLY.THEY WILL ALSO ASK YOU WHAT COLOR COVER YOU WANT. WHEN WE PLACED OUR ORDER WITH AMAZON THEY WERE OUT OF STOCK ON THE BEIGE SO WHEN THEY CALLED US WE OPTED FOR THE WHITE WITH CUTE BLACK PAW PRINTS AND IT MATCHES OUR INTERIOR PERFECTLY. THE COVER IS MACHINE WASHABLE AND THIS SEAT CAN BE USED A DOG BED WHEN YOU GO ON VACATION AND YOU NEED TO STAY IN A HOTEL OR MOTEL. IF YOU REMOVE ALL THE CONTENT OFF THE FIDO RIDO IT DOUBLES AS A CONVENIENT BATH TUB TO WASH YOUR PET. SO NOW NOBODY HAS NO EXCUSE TO LET YOUR ANIMAL BE LOOSE IN THE CAR. WHEN I DID NOT HAVE A FIDO RIDO WE USED A SPECIAL HARNESS THAT ATTACHED TO OUR SEAT BELT SYSTEM. SHE IS A LITTLE 13 INCH BEAGLE AND COULD NOT SEE OUT THE WINDOW AND WOULD GET CAR SICK SOMETIMES. NOW WITH THE FIDO RIDO SHE IS SO HAPPY TO BE ABLE TO SEE AND SHE LOOKS COMFORTABLE WHEN SHE WANTS TO TAKE A NAP. GOD BLESS, HAPPY CUSTOMER

I love this car seat. It's perfect for Dexter, our Boston Terrier. To begin with, the seat is secure in the car, because it's held in place with the vehicle's seat belt, similar to a child's car seat. The two straps on the seat attach to the dog's harness. This anchoring setup keeps the dog very safe, and the dog should be in the back seat to avoid injury from air bags. I use a locking carabiner through the loops on the straps and harness which has a weight load of 50 pounds. The seat allows Dexter to safely look out the window while riding in the car, one of our primary reasons for making this purchase. When we opened the shipping carton and unwrapped the seat, Dexter immediately hopped onto the seat and curled up to take a brief nap. The fact that the seat can be used as a dog bed and also a bath tub is great! This product is also proudly made in the U.S.A. I highly recommend this product.
