Great book
So far read half of the book, if the other half is as good, then it will deserve the 5 stars. I do not want to put the book down. To say it is a harrowing story is an understatement.

Learn by Yossie's recklessness
to go off, with strangers on such a reckless journey is somewhat (to say the least) irrisponsible. Had Yossie listened to his 'inner voice' about his feelings towards Karl, he would have paid attention to an important message that was being transmitted, but he allowed himself to ignore. - A page turner and has left me full of admiration of Yossie ability to cope, with such devistation, and be so generous as to write his story. - his openeness is refreshing.

An incredible read
Like another reviewer, I also bought this book after seeing the TV documentary. I cannot praise this book highly enough, it took my breath away. It is not just a tale of survival, it is a story of friendship and what can happen when these relationships come under extreme pressure, it is a tale of jungle survival explaining exactly how one would live during a trip to the rainforest. There are jaguars, monkeys, snakes, fire ants, wild boar, the list of animals is endless and fantastic to read about from first hand experience. The character portrayal of the 3 other adventurers is an enlightening & eye-opening, they all seem so charasmatic.Buy it, it will live with you forever.

Highly recommended.Three travelers embark on the adventure of a lifetime to explore the uncharted headwaters of the Amazon. They put their trust in a charismatic guide who lures them with promises of forgotten villages and untamed jungle. But the guide is not all he seems and things soon turn sour. Before long the group members are at loggerheads, and when one of them succumbs to a horrible illness they make the fatal decision to split up. Two fight their way back to civilization facing disaster at every turn, but the other two ...
