Raspberry pi - will this hub safely power 3 raspberry pi 3's?

It will power my Rpi4, unless the other 4 devices are drawing too much. Then the Pi will crash.

if i turn off my external hard drive using the off button on the hub will it safely eject the drive?

The answer is no. Pressing the off button is equivalent to unplugging the USB cable. The only way to safely eject a drive is via the operating system, if using Windows, find the Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media button in the System Tray. By telling the Operating System to eject the media , it will finish and close any open files first before ejecting the media to avoid data corruption or loss.

Will this work on gaming consoles? product description indicate it does but just making sure. xbox 1 & ps4 compatible? controllers, head sets, drives

When you plug this into your computer, you will gain 4 additional USB ports you can use it to connect drives, head sets, other drives or USB drives. It should work fine for your situation. It is a powered drive so it won't take all the power to operate from your computer. Hope this helps!

Handy device at a good price.

Great item, bought this to connect multiple drives to my modem/router to make a media server, can turn on/off the drives as needed because I don't need them on all the time or all on at once. Being self powered it keeps from overloading the port on the modem. Has a charging port that could be useful if needed. Have only used it a couple of times so far but seems to work OK.

This atolla Aluminum 5-Port USB 3.0 Hub does exactly what it says. I had first ordered a similar plastic-ey model from Sabrent..but it's just felt TOO cheap. This atolla Aluminum 5-Port USB 3.0 Hub feels well made...ports work fine with fast speeds...charging port works but is rather slow. I like you can shut individual ports off as needed and the corresponding blue lights that tell you which ones are on. My only SLIGHT negative is in winter I find I am getting more of those static electricity shocks than when I touch it vs my other metal components. I am not talking about a REAL shock....it's the dry winter air..walking on carpet kinda shock, touch a metal door handle kind of shock,it just seems a bit more with this unit, than when I touch anything else. The unit works great esp vs it's price-point.,. Made in China like so MANY other products sold on Amazon..wish it was made in USA!, but maybe that's just me...
