Rick Steves is a gem
We used this book daily on our trip to Italy. Even though I only packed a backpack, I'm glad I used some precious packing space to bring this with me! His recommendations are great and we got to see some interesting off-the-beaten-path places. I also recommend downloading his free app and using the audio tours on there if that's your style! One tip: double check with google reviews before hitting his suggested restaurants. It seems that some places took advantage of being a frequently recommended place and hiked up their prices and/or dropped their food quality. I noted this in multiple suggested restaurants in different cities that we visited (not just with this book, but from restaurants recommended on travel websites too).

Great book for first time travelers
We were booking our first trip to Amalfi in September so I bought this book as a reference guide. I checked all the other books on Amalfi, downloaded a few to read etc. This book gave me the most information on things to do and where to go, etc than any other book I found. We took it with us when we went as well. Lightweight, fit great in my husband's backpack. Highly recommend for any new travelers to Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Positano, etc.

This a a great overview book
This a a great overview book. We used Mondo Tour Guides as suggested in the book for Pompeii and Naples and really enjoyed them. The fact that it just gives the highlites makes it light weight and easy to carry. Occasionally we would have preferred a bit more choices in terms of restaraunt and hotel write ups but then I guess the book would become heavy and cumbersome.

Recommended!
I used this book for a trip that my husband and I took to Naples and found it very useful and informative. The walking tour of Naples is very good, as well as his tour of the archaeological museum. You only need two days in Naples. Maybe three to see everything. Steves guide provides all that you need to feel that you've "done" Naples. We also used this guide for Pompei and Paestum (loved it) and it was perfect.

Good guide but prefer Santa Lucia/Chiaia to Sorrento!
Good guide. It is concise and is a good size. Although, I would prefer it to be more like the "pocket" versions. He recommends Sorrento as a base, which is sound advice as Naples is a bit crazy. However, Santa Lucia and Chiaia are as calm as Sorrento and have the advantage of being close to the action in Naples and close to the the ferries that go to Capri, the Amalfi coast (via Capri), and Ischia.

A good book, packed with tips
Good book with a ton of information. I was seeking deeper knowledge regarding the Positano area specifically. This book contained some, but not as much as I wanted. Still though, its written well and loaded with tips. I encourage everyone visiting the amalfi coast to pick this up. A good and easy read. Thank you Rick Steves.

THis book was great to have in Italy
THis book was great to have in Italy! I have never used Rick Steve's tour guides before, but will use them always in the future. The tour guide recommended for Pompeii was perfect. Suggestions for traveling, where to eat etc were all good. Definitely recommend
