Price. Let's face it, vanilla is expensive in almost every form. This product remains affordable. I grew up using this, and after trying all the others, I keep returning. 2.) Value. You cannot buy GOOD vanilla at this price anywhere. The is a 16 oz (pint) bottle for $20! Find me another good brand at this excellent price! 3.) Consistency. This vanilla, as I understand, is a blend of the world's various vanilla beans. As each variety has its own unique flavor, McCormicks blend remains consistent. You cannot tell the difference between bottles, which speaks highly of the consistency. The scent is heavenly and complex. It does NOT smell boozy. 4.) Alcohol content, yeah it's there. It's not overpowering and the vanilla really comes through, not the alcohol. 5. Flavor: the flavor is consistent and predictable. No surprises. The bottle is now plastic, which I have not noticed affects the taste. I actually dropped it (closed) and it did not break. The flip-top lid stays closed. These are the reasons I keep coming back to this brand.
