This is the perfect item for what I wanted. We redid our daughters room in a Moana theme and wanted a treasure chest. one that she could use for keepsake items when she gets a little bigger (she is 5). The chest is exactly as described! it makes a cool three click sound as you crank open the lid which she loves. It is made with strong hardware that only allows the lid to open straight up so it doesn't fall backwards once lifted. It smells absolutely amazing since it's real wood. Very lightweight!

I really like the trunk. It's super cute. However I misjudged it's size. My intention is to use it as a coffee table. As it is smaller than I realized even after checking its dimensions, I will keep it for storage and order the larger one soon. L.G.

Except for a problem with the first arriving damaged, this does work for my needs. The first one arrived poorly made, the top “ironwork” was off center so that when the lid was closed , the “ironwork” did not line up properly . There was also a significant ding in the woodwork on one side. Amazon quickly replaced it however and the second was perfectly fine. The lid has a nice feature in the hinge that keeps it open while lifted. The materials are fairly cheap but sturdy enough and lightweight. The overall look was perfect for my needs. Overall, it’s great as a prop or functional decorative piece as long as you don’t expect to heavily abuse it. Keep in mind that there are gaps in the sides between the wood but that adds to the “aged” effect and the interior is black so hard to see anything inside. It’s also possible to add a period looking hasp for a lock to this easily enough.

Smaller than I thought but very light and very nice

Perfect size for corner or closet, seems pretty sturdy - nicely packed. Note that its not water/air tight - but its very handy storage. Add a cedar chip or two for a nice smell.
