Knives Utvær - Full Tang Bushcraft Knife, 12C27 Scandi Grind Fixed Blade with Curly Birch Handle - Survival Camping Knife for Hunting and Outdoor Use

The first one I ordered was a completely different knife. I ordered with only 2 left and I was sent the Temagami. I returned it but wanted to order the Utvær again (I was heartbroken when the box had a Temagami sticker on it). I got the Utvær on the second go around but it was just the box and knife no manuals or care instructions and no Helle cloth that normally comes with a new Helle knife. Either the knife was returned without those items, or the seller sold me a floor model, or simply kept or misplaced those things. The knife itself is 5 stars for sure but it ducks spending full price for less than the full package regardless of how useless those items are in the long run. For the price we pay for a prime membership I expect better from sellers and Amazon. This knife is not cheap and it’s beginning to become a hassle to return. No flaw with the knife itself so keeping it just going to be extremely prejudice against spending my money on expensive things from Amazon.

This is a quality knife. It looks very refined with its mirror polished blade and curly birch handle, but it's tough enough for batoning wood. Material and workmanship on the knife are both great. It fits my hand really comfortably and the handle is smooth without being slippery. It comes very sharp. The sheath is not as high quality as the knife. It is made of fairly stiff leather, but not the variety that will develop it's own patina or anything like that. It seems to be genuine leather grade which is durable, just nothing outstanding cosmetically. The knife sometimes cuts a bit of the inside of thr sheath if you don't put it in right - not where you can see, but I have had little leather bits flaking out because of it. It's an expensive knife. I think if you really love the look or that its a scandi grind knife from Norway you can justify it.

Great knife as advertised but I feel expensive for what it is. The sheathe is ok but a ferro loop would greatly enhance it.

Razor sharp out of the box, clean straight grinds, and I really like the feel of the handle. From the pictures, the sheath seemed rather cheap, but I was wrong. Nice leather and the knife fits perfectly.

A beautifully crafted knife. Sturdy and functional. I haven't put it through the rigors of bush crafting. I've seen positive reviews testing the knife Under such rigors. for me, a good camp and companion knife in the woods. I would not put through the heavier rigors of batoning, digging, but that's mainly because I have other knives for that purpose (and I don't want to risk damaging this one) Pricey, but so it is with designer knives. Only complaint is really the price, but not regrettably so.

This was my first fixed blade knife. Since then I have purchased a number of Enzo's including the trapper, camper, and necker. This knife feels incredible in my hand and the wood is beautifully figured and perfectly contoured. The problem is that it came rather dull for half of the blade and it does not hold and edge very well. The steel is surprisingly soft. I have even found dents in the edge after taking it in and out of the sheath (which is surprisingly poor for the money). Its a beautiful knife but for $200+ the sheath has to have better retention, the steel needs to distinguish itself from a $14 mora, and the heat treat needs to be spot on. I just cant see where my money went on this one when I'm so blown away by my $120 Enzo trapper in elmax.

I own abou a dozen Helle knives. This is my favorite. Excellent balance and strength. The full tang makes it stronger than the Temagami making batoning and bushcrafting no problem. The wood grips on mine have beautiful grain and the red spacers are a nice touch. The sheath is an open top design that slants upwards and seats the knife very securely. Helle knives are the sharpest knives I have found on the market and this one shaves easily. This knife will be on my belt for hiking and camping or hunting for years to come. A little expensive but worth it. An excellent knife.

Bought a Helle knife and this knife came from Pakistan. Do not buy any knives from this company!!!

Magnifico. Bellissimo. Impugnatura perfetta per me che ho le mani 'piccole' Codolo pieno. Affilato come un rasoio. Si mangia il legno come fosse burro. Nel bosco, e' un compagno affidabile.

Absolutely beautiful knife... Nothing else to say really. Sharp, comfy to fold even in bigger hands. Thanks amazon for letting me have it for 1/4 of what it should cost!

Eines Vorweg... ich habe mich in die Klinge verliebt... Aber nur in die Klinge! Von dem drumherum war ich nach dem auspacken doch eher enttäuscht. Als ich Maserbirke las und in einigen Videos das Messer begutachtete war ich begeistert. Ich besitze noch ein Carsström mit Maserbirke und war voller Vorfreude. Was dann ankam war eher ein Griff mit Birke... Ohne Frage es ist ein schönes Messer. Liegt gut in der Hand. Vielleicht etwas schmal am Griff. Leichter als das Casström. Verarbeitung, bis auf eine schiefe Öse gut. Super scharf und schon poliert, im Gegensatz zum Casström... Was aber mich zum Rücksenden veranlasst ist echt das "einfache" Holz und die eher einfache Scheide, die sogar keine "Verrasterung" wie das Casström hat. Ich habe mir jetzt eine Helle-Klinge (es gibt im Netz fertige Rohlinge für 44€.)bestellt und werde es mir mit richtiger Maserbirke nachbauen...

Ich habe ein gebrauchtes Messer zu einem günstigeren Preis bekommen. Die Gebrauchsspuren waren minimal. Das Messer an sich ist sehr gut, nur leider für meine Hand, einen Hauch zu klein. Was jedoch nicht das handling negativ beeinflusst. Was mich jedoch störte, war der Grad am Griff des Messers, der zu Verletzungen hätte führen können wenn ich ihn nicht beseitigt hätte. Das sollte bei der Preisklasse nicht vorkommen, ebenso wie die leicht schief gesetzten Nieten, die die beiden Holzschalen am Messer befestigen.
