30 pounds gone so far, a powerful tool in weight management
I have been dieting since I was ten and achieved only brief periods of normal weight, but had mainly given up. Dieting made me miserable, cranky and food obsessed.Four months ago I bought this book without high hopes. But very soon while reading it, the concept clicked in my head like two lego bricks snapping together. Now I am 30 pounds lighter, approaching half way to my goal, and it is not missing out on food that makes me unhappy, it is the thought of disrupting my planned menu which would delay my normal size goal.I would not say this is a diet book; it certainly pulls no punches about our personal responsibility and the gluttonous habits which have become accepted as normal in the west. But the book provides all the tools you need to cleanse yourself of old unhealthy and delusional food habits. One of the tools he suggests is making a collage of the "new you". I felt a bit silly doing this, but he is right. The possibility of a normal-size- you plants itself powerfully in your mind and the mind gets right to work making this new concept a reality. There is no magic bullet in this book, but I can honestly say I have been eating probably a third of what I used too with contentment and peace. As I have got used to eating less the cravings and hunger have largely abated as I figure out what food works for me, and perhaps as insulin levels have normalised, but most likely as my brain has stopped telling me to eat all the time. I have wobbled at times, but diving into the book snaps me on the straight and narrow. Not to say you can't eat anything "bad", you can, all within your planned menu.My pile of now-too-big clothes is mounting up in the garage destined for the charity bin. My size 20 and getting too tight work trousers are replaced with the size 14 which I will comfortably fit in a couple more weeks. The size 12 and 10 are waiting their turn in the wardrobe.I know that this will be a work of discipline for my whole life but the thought it is not now onerous. The author is a previously fat man and a therapist who knows exactly of what he speaks.Don't hestitate, give yourself the biggest treat: much, much, much better than a double fudge icecream sundae with toatsed nuts ;-) read this book.

I wish I'd found this book years ago!
This is an incredible book, it really helps you understand why it's difficult to lose weight, and gives you the tools to think differently and really address your weight. It is packed with information that empowers and encourages, de-mystifies losing weight, and makes eating healthily easy, and more importantly permanent and enjoyable. I thoroughly recommend this book.

Inspirational but not practical ideas
If you're looking for practical guide to weight loss, this isn't the book for you. If you're looking for psychological inspiration, which May help you achieve your aims in life, then yes, this is a good read.

Buy this book!
For anyone who has prayed for "the answer", look no further! If youve ever wished that you could swap minds with someone who eats normally and has a healthy relationship with food, then do not read another dieting book without reading this first. I highly recommend it.My weight has fluctuated between 15 stone and 25 stone and I have never been thin. I have undergone unsuccessful weightloss surgery twice and at 44 I had almost given up hope, believing that "this" is my destiny, being disgustingly fat, depressed and lifeless. William Anderson gets it. Hes been there and you know it. He doesnt offer a diet for the stomach but a diet for the mind. He has given me hope and the tools to change the thinking (or non-thinking) that lead to self destuctive eating habits into powerful weapons that are enabling me to finally "get it" too!Good luck to you all!
