Okay, first of all, my husband had a previous mount for his old iPhone 4 so he took it apart and used the main section(plate) with his old mount. This allowed him to reach less distance then what is needed with the current set up. Now why then did this get 5 stars? After a 700 mile motorcycle trip on highway 10 and some Texas back roads, this mount worked great! My husband stated it was nice to be able to mount his iPhone 5 with it's current Otter case. Unlike his old mount which required him to remove the protective case before mounting the system. The elastic strap insures the device stays in the holder and the only slight complaint is that these bands do obstruct access to some apps, but that's a minor issue. For the price and quality of this mount, my husband highly recommends it. Oh, by the way, my husband told me that during one ride last month he went to a lake hidden in the back of the Huachuca Mountains in AZ. The road was so bad he feared his phone might not last the trip. In the end the mount proved to be a great investment. The phone stayed in the carrier without a single problem. For those customers who state the mount doesn't do well, either they received faulty models or they didn't insure everything was mounted correctly and firm before going out on a ride on the streets. Trust your phone with this mount!

Well made with a large suction cup mount. Easy to install and fits the Uniden R3 perfectly.

First off, I think the ideal smart phone bike holder is yet to be designed I have tried several and none are prefect. This one is the best of the 3 or 4 I have tried. I have a large phone (Galaxy S5 with otterbox case). The wings of this holder open up plenty wide for my phone. It also has a locking mechanism that locks the wings in and then you push to release. Other carriers with wings are sometimes spring loaded but do not lock and I did not like them at all. That said, I would say you would need to use the elastic strap with this to fully secure your phone. Smart phones are just to heavy for this light plastic, and thus you need the extra security of a strap. The design of the elastic cord is my only complaint. It should be adjustable, but it is not. It does stretch and you pull the loop over the phone and secure the loop on a hook on the other side, thus there are two pieces of cord that go across your phone (top and bottom of the loop.) This cord did fit my thick phone, but just barely and I really had to stretch it to reach the hook. It was very difficult to attach and I was concerned the elastic cord would not last under that much tension. I fixed the problem by attaching a 1 inch mini loop of strong string or cord (I used the small parachute cord available at Michael's crafts) to the main loop, essentially two links of cord. I then attach this loop extension to the hook rather than attaching the elastic cord to the hook. I know people don't like to have to modify products they buy, but this actually works great. You can customize to fit your phone exactly. I only wish the manufacturer would allow some adjustment in the design here. This could be as simple as including three different elastic cord loops in the box of various lengths. Then the user could chose the one that best fits their phone. That would be ideal.

It holds tight and has never fallen or come loose. Only bad thing is putting on the attachment to hook to my detector. It wanted to keep turning with the detector on no matter how tight I tightened it. Then I discovered a black, small washer had fallen out and it's a pain to get in between the attachment and the side of the bracket. Once in it holds tight but should already be attached to where I Won't fall out or come loose. Kinds has a rubberish coating it seems on that washer

Horrible, it broke when i mounted it and try to pull it to make sure its secure. It fit great and suction was great however it feels cheap and broke because it uses cheap materials. Installation was easy i just wish the suction was food and it was made of better materials. I will be returning.

Worked for about 2 years. This summer rolled around and would barely hold for a day at a time. Worked good throughout those years though, from what i read its hard to find a decent suction mount anyway. For the price its hard to beat, but expect to replace it in a year and some change. Really pays for itself if it saves you a ticket so not a bad trade off if you ask me 👍

Fits my Uniden R3 perfectly

I almost gave this 4 stars, although its close enough that I gave it 5. The band that crosses in front of the screen to hold it in seems to get in the way when you are wanting to use the touch screen. It would be much better if it had some other way of securing it. The construction is good, and even though its made from plastic, the plastic seems to be sturdy. There was another guy that said all bad things, saying that it was made cheaply, although I think he just over torqued it to his handlebars. If you tighten the product properly, you shouldnt have any problems.One minor problem is that when you go over bumps, it seems to move a bit from where you have it positioned on the ball joint. Its not a huge problem, although it can get a bit annoying when you are going down a bumpy road.All in all, I think its a great product for an even better price!!
