Great lessons on perseverance
Having read The Great Game of Business many years ago, and then again recently, I decided to get this book. In this book, they go into much greater detail about their ups and downs in both buying, and then growing, the business. It's one of the few business books I've come across that truly helps one understand the ups and downs of growing a small business. Having been involved in numerous very similar situations, I found the content to be great and to be filled with practical wisdom about how to persevere. At the end of the day, much of growing any business or organization is understanding how to focus and tackle the obstacles that inevitably come while keeping your eye on the horizon and keeping people involved and motivated. Jack and Bo did a great job, and I will likely re-read this book several times.

A great story, but with limited take-aways
While this book does go into details about the author's amazing success with his company, SRC, the advice is tailored to senior executives who are in the position of founding or leading young companies. The author candidly admits that personal experience in leading a company is the only real way to learn, because each company has its own unique challenges, and because situations look quite different in the heat of a tense moment, rather than in the comfort of a book. Nonetheless, this book does give the reader plenty of areas to think more about, and tells a great story in the process.

A much needed business model.
Easy to read and easy to understand what is being said. I would recommend this book to every business owner, and every HR person. Harvard Business Review needs to do a presentation on the material in this book. This business model is lacking in the business world of failing corporations. It does make me wonder if this business model would fit into a huge corporation. The problem would be that a lot of managers would feel threatened by this business model. A great book

A Wise Investment
One of the clearest and most compelling books on employee ownership, A Stake in the Outcome provides a unique insight into the CEO's journey: creating employee engagement, fostering a culture of ownership, and navigating a path to profitability that every business needs to know. The style is down-to-earth and straightforward - just make sure you've seen a balance sheet once or twice before you dive in :-) Filled with exceptional business lessons and proven strategies - Highly recommended.

How to developer owners in your business.
Using the story of SRC a great explanation of how to develop and ownership culture, issues that come up, and ways to come up with solutions.

A valuable read
The book actually changed my perspective on ESOPs. I went into thinking I was pretty set in my decision of what was best for our company but Jack’s compelling cases made me see things differently and I am excited to put things into motion!

Should be required reading for Business courses at all Universities. Most useful to any Business owner or manager.
EXCELLENT BOOK. This is a book that should be used at all levels of business management, but especially for owners, corporate management level personnel to CEO's. A real gem. Nothing is hidden. Jack Stack is very open with the reader and with his employees. It is like an adventure story, fighting the odds and succeeding by sharing ownership. A new, fresh way to manage any business and succeed.

Great book very informative
I am new to the ESOP plans and the business thinking here really helped put things in perspective, from a different point of view. I enjoyed hearing about the good and the bad. Not often will people admit they learned by mistakes or by chance. The conversational tone made it seem very honest. Made it easy to explain some of the concepts to others.
