Amazing book! (but it's 1st edition)
The book is amazing and I love it. I'm reading it for a class and also using a workbook and have really enjoyed it. The only problem is the book isn't red it's green, because the green one is the 1st edition not the 2nd. I dont know how different the two versions are though and haven't had a problem with class or anything. Get this book!

Understanding your Identity system
This book cuts right to the essence of what it means to be "you". What is this thing? Why does it have habits? Why am I so upset today? Does the madness end? Many psychology books offer theory and exercises for dissecting your problems and patterns like a science experiment. That'd be great if you were learning how to fix a car, but you aren't a car. We need to fix ourselves from the inside out. Theories are easily misunderstood or can work for a while, and then we give up and we're back to our old habits. Such is life? Sure, if you're going to remain prisoner to the idea of your damaged self and identity system.Learning about the developmental stages of psychology is fascinating as a science, but it won't help you stop being miserable when you talk to your boss or help you understand why you drink or smoke too much. You don't need more systems or inspiration from false leaders. You need to understand yourself and this book will open your mind your infinite possibilities.

Finally understanding the beast within, and learning how to harness and overcome it.
This book is awesome. I have a much clearer understanding of what the darn chatterbox in my head is all about. Truly the identity system with the fixer and depressor is the "accuser of the brethren", the "familiar spirit" of the unhealthy people in our lives who influenced us in unhealthy, negative ways. As I learn to observe it with my third eye, recognizing what is going on and learn to use the tools in this book for harnessing the information it gives me, allowing me to emotionally detach from the wild ride of emotions that it stirs up, I can get to a place of acceptance, action and peace. Truly this is how the "dragon is cast out of the heavens." The truth will set us free.

Buddhist practices - a Western view
in essence, most if not all of the practices described in this book can also be found in basic Buddhist books - awareness, monitoring your thoughts - not a bad thing, at all.I have just bought the kindle version of the book and I practically read it in one day.The practices and exercises are not difficult to apply, which makes the whole book all the more attractive. There is no demand for daily hours of meditation; all of the "prescriptions" can be done in the normal course of your day, although some may require 5 minutes of your time without interruption. A small price to pay for the promised results, be it understanding yourself better of freeing yourself from the influence of "fixer" and "depressor".There are plenty of real-life examples from workshop participants that explain how others applied the concepts and what they struggled with. The practices may appear simple, I truly believe that the effects can be far-reaching.

This is all I will ever need
Since 2004, I have read many self help books and I have learned a little bit from each one, after reading Dr. Blocks books it dovetailed everything together for me, it resonated with me. Your book is the only self help book I will ever read again. I believe in my heart that as long as I continue to do the practices, do the work and make it a part of my life for the rest of my life, I'm going to be OK! I also bought the book for my sister. It is helping her better deal with challenges in her marriage. I am recommending the book to many of my friends and I am buying it as gifts. I want my mom and aunt to read the book, but the only language they speak is Greek. I will contact the Greek publishers I know and make a good recommendation for the book."

Great
Mind and Body Bridging is an excellent way to assist clients in believing in therapy. I recommend this approach to all therapist both beginner and advance. Clients actually get the opportunity to see that when we live in the here and now we not only feel better, but also achieve honest answers and better solutions. I am a gestalt therapist and this approach really does introduce the effectiveness of awareness in the here and now.

Important for doctors
Important for all doctors, of medicine and chiropractic, or whichever, is the fact that the mind and thought are the origin of some forms of illness and physical dysfunction. It is a difficult thing to reverse thoughts, or stop them in their destructive tracks. This book is a tool on how to do it. Mr J. Krishnamurti's writings uncovered thought as a destructive thing for me many years ago. Dr and Mrs Block's book puts a practical, doable slant on thought related disease and deceit of the true self. The best ten bucks you'll ever spend.

Can't praise more highly
This is a great book that I came across totally by accident while googling for something else, and what a stroke of luck that was because this is really a book that I want everyboby to know about and I think it's real shame that more people in this country haven't heard about it. It is US Amazon with very good reviews, so I'm doing my bit for the UK.This isn't like other self help books, it dioesn't try to solve your poblems with 'answers', it helps you to see beyond the question to a place of limitless peace. It's a very simple, very effective, and permanent way to reduce stress and unhappiness. Please give it a go and spread the word now that the secret is out!

Using as a workbook and processing the information slowly but surely. A must for anyone interested in early age conditioning - a follow on from "The Shame that Binds".
