Unfortunately I have been the recipient of a badly produced set of this fabulous series which I had ordered as a Birthday present for a lovely widowed neighbour; it was a very bad let-down as it did nothing but skip,stick and jump on disc after disc. However,I got in touch with desertcart and explained it all; they were wonderfully helpful as they always have been in my own experience on the very rare occasions of my many years of using them,if I've had a query. This mattered more than most as it was to be a special gift for a lovely man who is now alone and I had raved about the series so much; he agreed totally on the little he managed to view but I was determined he should try to get to see it all properly....... After getting in touch with desertcart with a fantastic response from them,I'm now copying my reply back to them in order that some of the details might well help others who may receive something that does not play properly......I hope it helps and please do not lose heart or be disappointed; the series as a show in itself is marvellous and addictive....to have it all on a super set of discs is your right when paying a lot of money to do so. The lovely-looking set that arrived today was dark green,shadowed and the rear of the box had photo-clips of the series which was totally missing from the first set...added to which,on the front of today's new order,there was both a red and a blue "18" certificate logo in both bottom corners,entirely missing from the first set.....as well as a silver "UV" sticker at the top of the box,again,not on the first set. Therefore,I'm hoping against hope that this new set will prove to be very different as I rather have my suspicions as to my returned order. Such a sad shame as if there are others who have received the badly defective set for a lot of money,they may well be deterred from ordering a replacement not to mention the fact that so many prospective buyers read the reviews before buying and could well decide not to risk ordering. Review: Better Late Than Never! - It's extremely difficult to add anything to the high praise already given to this superb series especially considering the nearly 1100 five star reviews on desertcart. However I just had to add my "two pence worth" as I have been just "knocked out" by how good Breaking Bad is. I am a very late, late comer to Breaking Bad as I did not see it when it was broadcast in the UK. I heard all the hype but just let it pass me by really. "Yeah, yeah another cult US series, so what?"..... "So what?"...." So where have you been?" When the complete series came down to a reasonable price I decided to take the plunge and I am so glad I did. I have not completed the whole thing yet but I have "binged" my way to the start of Season 4 now and I have to say it just keeps getting better and better. An incredibly original idea with a huge story arc that never lets up and continues to surprise. How is it possible that we can feel such empathy for someone who gets deeper and deeper into the world of seriously nasty crime. Brilliant writing, superb acting and wonderful production values that's how! Empathy yes, sympathy no and don't think for a minute it glamorises the world of drugs and drug dealing as it most certainly does not, no matter what some reviewers might have you believe. It really does deserve it's "adult" rating though so be warned. As for the presentation of the DVD's I do agree with some of the critics and am disappointed with the cardboard sleeves and flimsy box but this is a minor fault in my opinion. The fabulous quality of the show itself more than compensates. Another minor quibble is with the same frequent boast of many box sets "over 50 hours of bonus features". Hmmm....there is some good stuff there but some of the interviews, commentaries are a little repetitive. Aber diese Box ist es definitiv wert! Ich will ehrlich sein und bis vor August 2013 sah ich noch keine EINZIGE Folge Breaking Bad (Ja, Schande über mein Haupt), da ich dachte, dass das Konzept der ganzen Serie und die Geschichte bescheuert ist. Ein Freund drängte mich jedoch dazu mit ihm die ersten zwei Folgen anzusehen und spätestens nach der zweiten Folge wurde mir klar was ich die letzten Jahre verpasst habe und zwar die beste Serie aller Zeiten. Zugegebenermaßen geht es in der ersten Staffel im Gegensatz zu den anderen Staffeln noch eher ruhig zu, was sie jedoch um kein bisschen schwächer macht, da sie den Zuschauer gut in die Geschichte rund um Walter White und Co einführt ohne zu hetzen. Teilweise SPOILER!!! Auch zu den restlichen Staffeln muss ich nicht viel sagen. Es gibt vereinzelt (und damit meine ich wirklich sehr selten) eine Folge die möglicherweise langweilt, wie beispielsweise die in der es darum geht, dass Walt und Jesse eine Fliege umbringen möchten. Dann widerrum gibt es Folgen die an Spannung nicht zu überbieten sind. Hier denke ich spontan an die Folge in der Hank Jesse und Walt fast auf die Schliche kommt und sie nicht aus ihrem Koch-Van entkommen können, bis Walt die Idee hat, Hank zu erschrecken, in dem er eine Angestellte von Saul damit beauftragt, Hank zu erzahlen seine Frau Marie hätte einen schweren Unfall gehabt, obwohl dies gar nicht stimmt. SPOILER Ende!!! Breaking Bad schafft es wie kein anderes Serienformat die Gefühle so schnell und spontan umzuschlagen, da Walt anfangs der Sympathieträger ist und Jesse eher der unsympathische Pöbel, was aber spätestens ab Ende der dritten Staffel umschlägt, da Walt sich endgültig zum bösartigen "Heisenberg" entwickelt und teilweise Aktionen liefert, die den Zuschauer fast dazu zwingen ihn zu hassen. Jedoch schlägt auch das hier wieder schnell um, man hat kurzweilig Mitleid mit ihm, bevor er sich schnell wieder als "Badass" entpuppt. Jede Staffel hat ihre Vorzüge, wobei ich die dritte und vierte persönlich bevorzuge, ist aber nur meine Meinung. Auch das Finale ist der Staffel würdig und wirkt keineswegs gezwungen oder peinlich, nein, auch hier kommt noch ein allerletztes Mal richtig Spannung auf bevor es zum Showdown kommt. Ich bin froh diese Box noch bestellt zu haben als sie 140 Euro gekostet hat, also schon vor Release. Ein großes Lob an Amazon, da ich mein Fass schon am Donnerstag geliefert bekam, sprich einen Tag vor Release, da ansonsten alles erst am Montag ankommt (ich wohne in Österreich). Nun zu den Extras dieser Special Edition: Die Schürze ist eine sehr nette Beilage und gut verarbeitet. Auch die Münze ist erste Sahne, wobei ich nicht wirklich weiss was ich damit anfangen sollte. Die Bonus Disc liefert eine interessante Dokumentation und weitere Extras, unbedingt ansehen! Auch die Aufmachung ist wirklich "special", im Gegensatz zu anderen Limited Editions. Die Hüllen wirken stabil, auch die Idee mit den Magneten ist mal etwas anderes, neues, und der Seria absolut würdig.
