At the end of season five of Dragon Ball Z , artificial android Cell achieved his perfect form and challenged the Z Fighters to a martial arts tournament to determine the fate of the Earth. Now the tournament begins, but it proves to be a very uneven adventure. The contest begins slowly: The first 11 episodes are just set-up and filler, with little action. The battles between Cell and the Z Fighters offer plenty of excitement, as the brawlers blast each other through rocky cliffs and fling bursts of energy into space. Goku correctly predicts that Gohan will crush Cell. But the story falls into repetitions; Cell has to be killed three times before he'll stay dead. When Cell announces the tournament on TV, Mr. Satan, a WWF-type, appears as Earth's champion. Although he's a coward and a phony, the TV crew fawns over him--a lame gag that goes on far too long. The filmmakers also change the rules in mid-story. Cell had to absorb Androids Nos. 17 and 18 to achieve his perfect form. After a series of body blows from Gohan, he vomits up No. 18 (intact); later, he regenerates himself into an even more perfect form without the Androids. Goku is killed and decides to remain in the Next World with King Kai, rather than risk attracting more evil creatures to Earth. But when Trunks returns to the future, he destroys Cell before he can travel to the past and achieve his perfect form which means the Cell that killed Goku never existed. Season six could have easily fit on four discs--the last two discs contain just three episodes apiece, and the only extras are textless songs and some trailers.(Rated TV PG. suitable for ages 8 and older: violence, tobacco use, ethnic stereotypes) --Charles Solomon (166. Review: Dragon Ball Z Season 6 – Cell Games Saga: Classic DBZ Action - Season 6 of Dragon Ball Z is a must-watch for fans. The animation and picture quality hold up well, and the English and Japanese audio tracks are both clear. The story is thrilling, with Goku mentoring Gohan, Gohan reaching Super Saiyan 2, and Cell providing intense, memorable battles. The action is classic DBZ: epic, dramatic, and full of energy. The six-disc set is sturdy and functional, perfect for repeated use. Value for money is excellent considering the hours of content and special features. One thing to note is that the case designs in this set may not match previous editions in your collection. It didn’t affect enjoyment for me, but it’s something collectors may want to be aware of. I also gave this as a gift to a DBZ fan, and it was received in perfect condition. Overall, this set delivers high-quality action, compelling storylines, and the excitement that makes Dragon Ball Z so iconic. Review: Great for Casual Fans of DBZ - I grew up watching the Funimation dub of Dragon Ball Z on Toonami. I was obsessed with this show as a kid because of the action, interesting characters, and the story arcs. Until the 'Orange Bricks', owning episodes of DBZ would cost a pretty penny. Now, a fan searching for some nostalgia (such as myself) can easily afford the entire series. That said, these season packs are not for the 'hardcore' DBZ fans as they would find the lack of the full picture disturbing. See, Dragon Ball Z originally aired back in the 90's on 'box' TVs. In order for the wide screen affect, Funimation cropped the top and bottom of the screen and zoomed in. This means lesser quality and missing artwork. It's not noticeable most of the time, but if it's something that would bother you, look elsewhere and pay upwards of $500. The value of these DVD seasons is incredible. Most seasons cost around $18 here on desertcart and contain about 30 episodes each, spanning 9 seasons in total. The sets come with 6 DVDs with special features and the ability to choose the audio of the original Japanese dub or the Funimation dub. It's worth noting that the background music can be set to the Japanese version while listening to the Funimation dub. You also have the option of subtitles. Lastly and also worth noting, this is the uncut version of the series. Season Six is about the Cell Games where Cell challenges the Z Warriors in a televised tournament to test his strength. It's cheesy, fun, well-done, and honestly everything you can remember about one of the most popular anime shows ever. I enjoyed it and can't wait to see Goku and company take on Buu in the following seasons.

Season 6 is FINALLY HERE!!!!
Finally! The season we've all been waiting for. The Cell Games are about to begin and Gohan is about to kick Cell's high and mighty butt! Memories will be shared, boundaries will be breached,...and a much-loved hero will destroy King Kai's planet in order to save the Earth. :) I can't wait until September!!!! If you're new to DBZ, I highly suggest you pick it up! It was first aired back in 1989, and is still considered one of the most amazing and best anime series out there. Each season is literally better than the last, but, as a whole, DBZ is the most unforgettable anime to date. The story line is awesome, the characters are unforgettable, and the fighting sequences are to die for!!! I've been in love with the whole DBZ series since I was 10 years old. The first episodes I ever saw were of the fight between Goku and Captain Ginyu. I couldn't believe it when they said they were releasing the seasons in box sets and have been in anticipation for the following set ever since I bought Season 1 and Season 6 is NOT the exception. I can't wait to see Gohan go SS2 in Hi-Def, remastered and uncut! The seasons only get better from here! If anything, give it a try. I guarantee you'll never see another anime like it. Well with the exception of Dragon Ball (the prequel to DBZ...but it doesn't have to be seen to understand DBZ) and Dragon Ball GT (the sequel to DBZ. It's a good continuation of the characters' lives... but nowhere near as good as DBZ). Trust me: DBZ is a classic must-see anime! Mandatory to anyone who likes/loves/is remotely interested in anime!

Goku Is A Good Father
I've always wondered what DragonBall Saga is ranked the best, highest rated? I don't get full-credible answers, but from a lot of those sources I'll see the Cell Saga as the top saga. This Saga, has flaws storyline, I feel like the Saiyan, Namek, Frieza, and even Majin Buu Saga, had a storyline that flowed more evenly than the Androids/Cell Saga storyline. A lot of us think the storyline in DragonBall flows better than the D.B.Z. storyline, and a lot of us feel like the storyline in Dragon Ball Super, isn't as well written, thinking a lot of Super is based off of what fans want. Over the years, I have seen lots of questions as to what would happen, if there were certain other outcomes even simple different outcomes in the D.B.Z. storyline? We think of them from an in-universe perspective, and a lot of those outcomes would mean the end altogether. Realistically, even if there were different outcomes from the main storyline, we can bet Toriyama would still write the story with a resolved ending and where the characters still figured out a way to defeat the villain and make it to the next level. It realistically comes down to storyline, and for awhile Toriyama had plans of ending the series even after the Frieza and Cell Saga, but because of the fans he continued the story. A story that lives on. With the story really coming from writing let's think for a minute. For example, Launch a main character in DragonBall is not in the manga in DragonBall Z, only has small scenes in the anime, because Toriyama had forgotten about her. Animal people that were very common in DragonBall, aren't so common in D.B.Z. I read in some interview I hadn't seen in awhile, that Toriyama thinks he forgot to include them, as he was working on the after effects of Dr. Slump when he started with DragonBall. We notice flaws in the Androids/Cell Arc, including mentioning Dr. Gero when he wasn't a known character during the Red Ribbon Army Saga, most likely just an added character to continue the plot. Also, I heard that Toriyama brought out Cell because his former editor didn't care for Androids 19 and 20, and then Android 17 and 18. If his former editor hadn't made those comments, we could have seen a storyline without Cell. I also am pretty sure that Toriyama originally intended the Cell Saga to be Goku's last saga and have Gohan continue as the main character, but he changed it around. While watching this Season, I thought to myself that I bet Toriyama hadn't thought of two of the main characters we get to know in the next Saga, Goten and Videl while writing the Cell Games Saga. If he had, he possibly would have included Goten in the Future Trunks Saga, or at least hint that Chichi was pregnant. If he had thought of Videl, he probably would have at least mentioned her somehow, or given her a cameo. I've wondered what if Gohan could have met Videl when he was younger, like during the Cell Games Saga where she came to recognize him by? Cell's fight was broadcast on T.V. and Hercule was able to convince people it was tricks, though the fights between the Saiyans were also broadcast on T.V., and people seemed to forget that fight or recognize Earth's special forces. Enough about writing, even though I'm putting that into perspective as a lot of us might barely think of it this way. If you're like me and have watched D.B.Z. for years, you still love D.B.Z. even when you can point out the flaws. A main reason we love D.B.Z. is because of Goku. While we can also debate whether Goku is a good or bad father, I feel like he showed himself as a good father during this Saga, and about as good as a father gets. Goku having nice hangouts with his son Gohan before the Cell Games, and being encouraging, helping Gohan believe he could beat Cell. This makes him seem so nice!! The Cell fight is also awesome. This D.B.Z. action draws you into it, even if you know what happens? The climax to the fight, feels like one of the most exciting things you'll ever see on T.V. I can assure you, you'll love these episodes if you like D.B.Z. I also want to say, that you might not care for most of the episodes in Disc 1, where it isn't those actions episodes we know D.B.Z. from. But, it is nice to see how carefree Goku can be at other times. He is truly a one of a kind hero.

A must have in the DBZ collection
I love DragonBall Z since I was little. To have this collection in my procession is amazing to me because for a long time I couldn't find the shows for DBZ. Now that technology has changed since the 90s, a lot of remakes are being made. This version is from the original Japanese intro and outros. I grew up on the 90s version of the intro and outros(definitely not the same and the 90s version was in English) so for this one I was a bit surprised but the picture is clear as it can be. Also, it is NOT like the Toonami version that the US was given. It is the original Japanese version of the show. The shows are in English, clear, precise, no commercials, just a small 10 second cut away, in each episode. I can sit an watched these all day because as you know back on TV the commercials was so annoying so to have no commercials and you transition well between shows, it is a TREAT. Go get your popcorn, and relax cause you will be officially apart of the show. Its a WONDERFUL collection. I just love it. If you are a DBZ fan, you must get it!!!!!

DBZ Season 6 Review
I have to say that the fight between Gohan and Cell rocked big time! It was more intense and dramatic than the entire fight with Frieza which had about 30 episodes of fighting and the Gohan vs Cell fight only had 11 episodes. It was like you were right there at the Cell Games. You would feel what the characters were feeling. One difference between this battle and the other ones with involving Freiza and Majin Buu, this battle isn't an epic battle but one thing is has is the ability the convey emotion and feelings which the viewer will feel. I also found out that Cell has appeared in less episodes (while alive) than Frieza and the many forms of Majin Buu. Frieza: 58 episodes (Seasons 2,3 & 4 plus TV Special 'Bardock The Father Of Goku) Majin Buu,Super Buu & Kid Buu: 55 episodes (Seasons 8 & 9) Cell: 52 episodes (Seasons 5 & 6) Of course Cell is over 100 times more powerful than Frieza and not yet quite as powerful than Majin Buu. I don't know the real reason for having Goku on the front cover but if I had to choose it would be SS2 Gohan because he was the one who defeated Cell. Even though Goku did save the planet from the self destructing Cell. Have you noticed that Goku and Vegeta (the only 2 pure blooded Saiyans alive) have died only twice throughout the entire series and they have died about 5 seasons apart and Goku is usually dead for a long period of time and Vegeta is dead for a short period of time. Vegeta changes alot during the fight. He says sorry to Gohan for being useless on the battle field and when Cell kills Trunks he goes into a moment of reflection and then flies into a rage and attacks Cell head on. I love the battle between the Z fighters and the Cell Juniors. It was an all out war! I liked it when Gohan hunted down the seven Cell Juniors and picked them off one by one. I like the 10 filler episodes before the fight and it is good to see an old enemy like General Tao come back. I love the end of the fight where Cell & Gohan use their powers to form a big Kamehameha ball and the Z fighters still help even if their efforts are for nothing. They still try anyway. Goku giving some helpful encouragement and advice still added the suspense it needed. This is truly a great work of art!

The best of Cell!
That season is the climax ending of the Cell saga who started with the androids in the season four. My only though was the continuous presence of filler in the beginning but that is part of the show. Everything work perfectly and the shipping always good as the habitual.
