I have tried everything for steady sound to combat insomnia. Large padded wired and wireless headphones, small pressure clip on bluetooth headphones, earbuds, and the Sleep Shepard. This memory foam pillow has provided the most relief because the iPod is wire connected to the pillow (not headphones) and so it does not lose the internet connection as I did with bluetooth systems. The speaker is not terribly resonant, but I do not listen to music playlists, but podcasts with low, even toned speaking voices or nature sounds. If the pillow itself was as comfortable as a Tempurpedic pillow, this would be a 5 star, but it is not very thick and is a bit inflexible because of the speaker section. I have to put the speaker pillow on top of my head (I have always had a pillow on top of my head regardless of headphone situation) for better head & neck support underneath. The L'elegance memory foam pillow is a bit firm and the speaker listening distance limited, so it can be a challenge to stay in sound range. In spite of that, it provides more relief than any other sleep sound method I have tried. No wires to get caught in when turning over, and nothing wrapped around the head. Amazing how the sound can not be heard beyond my sleeping space! Given the relatively low cost of this pillow over headphone/wrap systems, it's a bargain.

This pillow just doesn't do it for me. I purchased it because I like to listen to movies at night but don't want to disturb my husband. I usually wear earbuds, but get tired of the cords. I could not get any sound to come through the pillow with the cord that was provided, so I am pretty sure it was defective. I used a cord from my car that I use to run my iPod through the car speakers, and with a little wiggling I got it to work, but would still have have to order something else because that cord it is too short to use in bed. When laying on my back, I could not hear the speakers at all. When laying on my side, the sound was detectable, barely, but it was very tinny sounding. I was trying to listen to a movie, but the background noises were too loud while the voices were too quiet. I had to run the sound at the highest output on my phone to hear anything. Didn't work at all with my tablet. The pillow itself is not a bad pillow, actually pretty comfortable if you like a flatter pillow like I do, but it could be a little more supportive of the neck. I found the mesh material to be rather scratchy and my earrings stuck in it. If I were to keep this pillow, I would replace the cover with a cotton one.

Works well, just be prepared to replace the longer/extension headphone cord
I love to fall asleep listening to an audiobook, but my husband usually doesn't care to hear it. I've tried under-the-pillow speakers, but have had the speaker wire connections die after about 4 months...Just long enough to be part the return date 😠. I decided to try this pillow & see if ity lasted longer.I'm very happy with it. The pillow itself is very comfortable, & has a little half-circle indent in the front that is really comfy around the neck. You can't feel the speakers at all. There's a small male 3.5mm conductor that sticks out of the pillow, which the included longer cable fits into. One downside is that there's no independent volume control, meaning the volume is strictly controlled from whatever device you plug in. However, the volume has been more than adequate, with a loud enough range to be good if I'm listening while awake, but able to go low enough that I can still fall asleep. It doesn't bother my husband.I give it 4 stars because, within a month the included long speaker cord no longer works. *However*, because the end that comes out from the pillow is anchored so well, all I had to do was replace that 3.5mm headphone-type cord and it's fine again.

Low This Memory Foam Speaker Pillow!!!
L'elegance Memory Foam Music Pillow ( with 3.5mm Auxilary Detachable Cord & Built-in Mini Stereo Speakers) I live in the heart of a large city and I not only like my bedroom quite dark, I also like to be free of street noise and noisy neighbors. I have a sound machine (use mostly ocean sound) from Brookstone to mask the sound of noisy neighbors, which I keep on 24/7. I also enjoy ambient and music specifically for sleep. I find it helps me relax. Normally, my bedroom stereo system speakers are just fine, but I recently bought a collection of the most excellent hypnosis CDs of British hypnotherapist Mark Bowden http://www.amazon.com/Say-Goodnight-Insomnia-Hypnosis-Hypnotherapy/dp/B00OCXC04U?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01 Because of the way the CDs are recorded, Mark suggests using headphones or earbuds. I tried using them, but I also use a CPAP for sleep apnea, so it was just too much on my head. UGH! I bought a pair of Sangeane from Staples, but they were awful and hard plastic and the volume was terrible. I used them once and sold them. I did a search here on AMAZON and found the L'elegance Memory Foam Music Pillow. I took a chance since the reviews werepositive. Well, so glad I did, this pillow is terrific. I am a big pillow guy and also have a number of various memory foam standard size pillows and a body pillow. I like to feel like I'm sleeping in a cocoon. This speaker pillow is just great, very comfortable and the sound is just what I wanted. Mark Bowden comes through perfectly clear whether I am on my preferred left side, on my back or occasional right side. I would definitely buy this again. I only wish it came with an additional pillow protector designed for it, a tight weave soil and might proof one would be nice. I ended up ordering one from Macy's. By the way, even with a cotton pillow case on it, the sound is not diminished. I also wish the connector plug was movable so you could plug your device in from left side or right side of the pillow. That's not a big issue though. I would most definitely buy this again. I hope it lasts a long time. I noticed this speaker pillow has few, if any, negative reviews, as opposed to the much more expensive Brookstone speaker pillow, which is not rated as high as the L'elegance pillow.
