My window’s shades were beginning to crack, rattle and disintegrate. Just trying to move them was a disaster. It was obvious I needed new blinds for all my windows. Blinds that worked well and were easy to open and close. Oh and it would be nice if they were automated. I noticed an ad on TV for a blinds that interfaced with smart phones and a controller. So I thought Amazon, they might have a useful product. I decided I wanted a controller minimum and it would be nice if I could control it as a smart device. In looking through Amazon, I came across Graywind roll shades. Wow, a shade that would roll up and disappear. It wouldn’t just hang there on the side or rotate open closed like my slotted old shades. And it had a remote plus local network interface and Alexa/Google voice control. Plus it was wall powered, no batteries to change. So I ordered two rollup shades for my front windows. To my surprise Graywind responded immediately via email asking for confirmation on my shade size and specifications. After an email reply, they changed the order to my exact requirements and processed my window shades in a day. In two weeks from clicking place my order on Amazon, the order arrived via Fedex from China. The window shades were packed well with everything I needed inside. It took two bracket clips screwed to the opening to hold the shades. Honestly, it took me longer to remove the old shades than to install the new Graywind shades. I carefully measured and predrilled screw holes in my window sills. The new Graywind shades fit perfectly in the clips. The only minor thing was routing the power and antennas though the gap on the top side so the roll shades didn’t interfere. There are two antennae, one for the remote (433MHz) and second for WiFi (2.4GHz only). After this was done I plugged in the shades to 115V power and loaded two AAA batteries into the remote. The shades responded to the remote and I was able to open and close them perfectly. I measured the shade width and shade height and they matched my specification exactly. The shade when lowered definitely blocked all light, 100% as advertised. Ok. Next step was to download the phone app. I have an iPhone so I went to the apple app store and found Smart Life and easily loaded it into my iPhone. It was simple and it worked for me immediately after it found my home network and prompted me for my password. Next step was Alexa on Amazon. I had a bit more difficulty just finding the Skill. Amazon skill searching is cluttered and awkward. I found it, installed it, and enabled it. The first thing, I needed to rename the Graywind shade names. They came as default Chinese names. No problem, just went to my iPhone and clicked the pencil on top right, inserted my first shade as ‘front shade’ and my second shade as ‘side shade’. Then the fun began. Alexa open front shade. Nothing. Alexa front shade up and the shade went up. Alexa front shade down and the shade went down. Ok, up and down are keywords. Then I discovered Alexa front shade 50 and the shade went half way open. I finally figured out (Graywind need to update this in your manual) I could position the shades in increments of 10 from 0 closed to 100 wide open. This was absolutely fantastic. My wife loves these shades. We have ordered more for the rest of the windows in need. Finally I created an Alexa group. I called it ‘window shades’. I put my two shade names into the group. Now when I say 'Alexa window shades 50' both shades half open. I also tried leaving the shades open and while I was on the road I commanded the shades closed with my iPhone. When I came home the shades were closed. Yep, it works remotely via internet anywhere in the world. This is a fantastic product and it works well. I cannot attest to how long the shades will last, but the product I received was well engineered and its case appearance is very nice.

The 21 black shades I ordered are excellent at blocking light and the integration with HomeKit works flawlessly. The measurements I provided for my windows all fit perfectly, so make sure to follow their directions. If you are unsure of a measurement, go a little short on the width so it won't be too snug when installing. Installation of the hardware was dead simple and setup with the iOS Home app took no time at all. I am able to control them with a Homepod and the optional remote controls I purchased reliably, and they are a fun conversation piece for guests on top of the convenience they provide. A few caveats if you are looking to order them to be aware of: 20 out of the 21 shades I ordered work perfectly, but one was not reporting its status in HomeKit correctly and would not accept commands. After emailing the service team, they sent a replacement HomeKit adapter to see if that would correct the issue, but it did not. Following that, they sent a replacement motor with instructions on how to replace it, and it finally worked. The service was very helpful and patient in troubleshooting and fixing the issue. Just keep in mind that any replacement parts you receive will be shipped direct from the manufacturer, so it may take several days at least to receive it. When installing the shades, they will likely be set to the measurements to provided when you order. This means the upper and lower limit of the shades will be set and the remote control may already be paired. Test each shade individually to make sure this is the case! If a lower or upper limit is not set it may result in the shade motor continuously running and grind the supports holding them in place. I made this mistake but I was able to solve it by sanding the plastic side and gluing the gear back in place. The kit will include instructions on setting the upper and lower limits and I highly suggest going through it for each unit. Once it is set, no further maintenance is required. These are very affordable and functional shades and I am very pleased with the product and the service that came with it.

I am paralyzed from the shoulders down due to a spinal cord injury that I suffered in a car accident. Getting ready in the morning is a slow process. While I was able to turn on my bedroom lights while still in bed using my voice and smart home controls, it isn’t the same as opening the shades to let the sunshine stream into my room. Now with Graywind shades installed, I can let the sunshine in using my voice! Following the measuring guide on the Graywind website was very easy to ensure that the shades would be the correct size. I placed my order through Amazon and selected a voice-controlled, motorized, black-out shade. The material and motor options allowed the selection of perfect window coverings to match my room design. The shades arrived as a complete package, ready to be installed. They look great, fit perfectly and were very easy to install. It only took a few easy steps to add them to my smart home system. The shades have been up for over a month now and I haven’t had a single problem. I am so grateful that Graywind offers such a helpful product at a very reasonable price. I plan on adding more automated shades to other rooms in my house to help with the heating and cooling bills. Automating the process of opening and closing the shades with smart home controls will have a big impact on saving money by keeping the sunshine out in the summer and letting it in during the winter months.

I ordered these thinking they're going to be difficult to install, but I was pleasantly surprised on how easy it was. The shade material itself is very nice and quite literally 100% blackout. The remote is pretty nice but sometimes one of the shades doesn't respond if you're too far away. They are slightly loud, but that's to be expected when 7 of them are going at once. The motor housing itself looks very well made and offers a pretty sleek and streamlined design. I installed it knowing I needed to hide the wires, so I also ordered some medium sized D-line cord covers. These covers were also great! What I did was found the length I needed and soldered them to an extension cord running to an outlet. The cords that came on the shades were really easy to work with in regards to stripping and soldering. After getting the SmartLife app, I've got the shades on a schedule and it works great for my household. I have yet to sync these up to my Google Home, but I'm sure that'll go without a hitch. Great product, and I'm considering furnishing my whole home with these!

I purchased these shades May of 2022. I started off by reading the reviews, and they were all talking about how awesome the products are and the outstanding customer service! The people at Graywind had such great communication right front the start, answering any questions I had. All I had to do was measure my old shades, and then input the dimensions into the order. After that, they reviewed my order and had me double check everything, and that was that. Before I knew it, they were at my doorstep within two weeks! Now for me, I really wanted shades that worked with Alexa, and could connect to WiFi without requiring a hub to connect to, which these do. The installation process was pretty seamless for the most part. The hardest part for me was getting the old ones out, but putting the new ones in was so easy and pretty quick. The setup was really simple, following the directions. It’s also really nice that they just plug right into the wall. So I have had these shades for over nine months now, and they are still working and looking as good as the day they arrived! I highly recommend these shades because they are really good quality, look really nice, are customizable to almost any window size, and the company Graywind is so awesome!!! Hope this helps anyone considering purchasing these shades.

I bought one of these to try it out. Just finished the basement, and want a few smart shades. These use the Yuha (Smart Things) app so they work with Google, and Amazon. Even better. They work with my Home Assistant automations. So I now have a button, that when pressed turns on the TV and receiver, sets the correct inputs, turns off the lights, turns on the LED's, and then puts the shade down. It's great. The kids love it. I'm going to be getting another one. The one downside. I gave it about an inch of extra height, just in case. So the bottom limit was all the way down. In order to set the bottom limit to the height I wanted, I had to clear the limits out. I cleared all the limits, then set the bottom. Worked great. I then rolled it up, and there was no top limit, so it took it all the way up into the housing, and was clicking, banging and making noise. Thought I ruined it. I had to take it down, and pull out the bar. Now it makes a small clicking noise because I'm sure something got bent. It's not that big of a deal though.

I bought these shades for a window with a tricky frame and an odd size. The instructions on the site were very clear and easy to follow for customizing the order. However, the vendor sent me an email within 24 hours ensuring they understood what I had ordered and it was correct. They arrived much faster than I expected, and more "put together" than I expected. They were completely assembled with the valence attached and the motor installed. All I had to do was put them up, which was also relatively easy despite the unwieldy size. The only glitchy part was in programming the motor as it took me several attempts. The Graywind videos on line helped me to determine I was doing it correctly - just a bit tricky. Once I finally got it programmed, it hooked up to Alexa quite easily. The only weird part is that the command needs to be "turn the shades on/off" instead of "open/close", but that is easy enough to get used to. The shades themselves are of very high quality and more than met my expectations. As an added bonus, the vendor followed up with me to ensure that there were no issues, missing parts and asked if they could be of service. I had recently bought set of shades from a different vendor (an outdoor shade), and their customer service was lousy. It was refreshing to see an earnest attempt at customer service. I will definitely buy from this vendor again given the quality of their products and their customer care.
