Booklist got it right: "A satisfying tale" and a very satisfying ending! I rate this the author's best story I've read to date
It pains me to not give this book five stars. It was kind of slow in many places, yet better that the previous sixteen books by this author that I've read over the past few months. Two more to go!I feel the most annoying thing throughout the story was the reluctance of the good guys to kill the bad guys. I understand killing is not good, but the bad guys (and bad female) never hesitated. I know, not killing everyone early did manage to get the page count over 300, but I consider any Western over 200 pages is just full of unnecessary filler.I usually only read reviews by individuals, not publications, but when I finished this book I found the statement on the front cover by Booklist and it fit: "A satisfying tale." A good story and very satisfying ending!Norm

A Western About a Range War in West Texas/The War is Between an Old Established Family and
CS has written an exciting western that begins during the Civil War that extends toward the end of the Century. The range war begins with an attack on the Kerry ranch by rustlers. The crooks were a newly arrived rancher, a preacher and the gang members. The crooks attempt to steal four ranches by hook or crook. The novel is an excellent read, for the times period where changes in ranching are occurring daily. The men are at odds as the changes are effecting their daily ranch operations. This is an outstanding read for the genre.....ER

Sorrel Moon
First I had to find out what a Sorrel Moon is. The Kerry family is a strong and brave group. Younger brother, Cole Kerry has just lost his wife, Kathleen, and is suffering. Their Ranch is the Bar- B.Over near them is the Rocking R, which has just changed hands, following the death of the last family.This is a story with old fashioned action story about Ranchers.

Such a VERY GOOD book!! I wish I could find and down load the book preceding and following Sorrel Moon. I know there has to be as there were things mentioned in this book to indicate it. The main characters, the Kerrys, each one are very special in their own way. I know you will love each and every one. I highly recommend this book!!

4th Cotton Smith book I’ve read, they were all excellent, but this was maybe the best! Highly recommend to all western fans.

Very good read keeps a fast pace just enough
Too keep you interested and enough character s too make a good read very good read but story line is very much believable
